Caption: "Summary writing has been one of the most challenging topics on the CSEC Syllabus. Yearly CSEC reports have revealed that students continue to see Summary Writing as a 'deletion exercise'. When developing this unit of instruction with my colleagues, it was clear that the concept was taught in disjointed lessons." The presentation stored here in this section gives a clear view into the rationale behind the unit of instruction and how it was research and planned to be taught.

There are many principles of classroom assessment or test construction. Two most important principles that helped shape my assessment techniques are validity and giving manageable assessments. Too often tests were constructed without a glance at the schemes and objectives of lessons. The truth of the saying " you can't test what you don't teach is very true," thanks to the many Assessment lectures this year. Whether its an informal or formal assessment, the tasks given should be aligned with these principles as well as the others.
The test below is one that was written after the lectures and many considerations were made based on the principles. As growth is part of the process and journey of a teacher it is with hope that improvements will be made when assessing students.

Collaboration is a team effort and a best practice. It is one of the greatest tools for holistically developing a student. Collaboration takes time because a lot of planning goes into Curriculum integration, especially a multi-disciplinary one at the Form 2 level. The significance of this integration with , Art and Literature is showing that teaching and learning is not fragmented but intertwined so much that concepts often overlap.

CaptionThis technology mode was used a Set Induction for my lesson. Here we can see two underwater characters, a squid and a whale. The squid is lost and is in need of directions to get home. He asks the whale for directions. The concept of the cartoon is to have students realize that when giving directions/ instructions there is a process involved. Certain lexical indicators can help follow directions.
