The development of internet as a crucial social media allows the information to spread in a very limited time.  The participants of the protests post videos, words and images to call popular attention to support their protests. At the same time, the authority pays attention to the role of internet and punishes those whom are considered as spreading "rumors".

Here is a question with various answers on the reasons why Chinese dynasties rose and fell.  Some people believe it is only a dynastic cycle, a repeated history, other believe that each dynastic is also a revolution, a new achievement from the past.
