Knowing my birth family and the limits their environment provides reminds me of how much people can miss out on life because they aren't able to experience more.
2.I am thankful for my family. Although at times there is dysfunction i highly appreciate the fact we can have healthy interactions and relationships with one another.
3. I am thankful for the outdoors. I think so regularly a large portion of people in modern society don't truly recognize how blessed we are to have access to the natural world, and because of this I feel there is so much disconnect between us and the planet we live on.
- Akela Grow

1. One thing that I am thankful for is my family. Whenever I am having an issue in life, I always feel better when I am able to talk to them about it. My family loves to make the most out of life through activities and traveling which I also appreciate very much. My most favorite memories in life have always been with my family.

2. A second thing that I am thankful for is my education. I am grateful that I have the ability to continue to go to school to study what I love. There are a lot of people in the world who do not have access to education and the wonders that come from it. I am also grateful for the professors at the University of Hawaii who are here to support my educational goals.

3. One last thing that I am thankful for are my pets. I have two pet cats and a dog at home with me. They can always cheer me up after a long day by sitting with me on the couch or playing around with me. They are never judgmental and they can always put a smile on my face.

-Elyse Reed

1. Im very thankful for my family. I have always had a strong love for my family unit and i've felt as if its been reciprocated throughout my journey in life. The members of my family are very close. We share a strong bond and understand one another. We do not judge each other, but instead we appreciate the differences and the perspective each one of us has.

2. Im thankful for my overall aptitude in various subjects both physical and mental. I am intelligent and strong. I will not deny the physical and mental attributes that I have. Instead I would like to take the time to acknowledge how lucky I am. I am fortunate to have had overall good health. I am also very fortunate to have been able to have graduated Highschool and accepted into an university. I am thankful to have the capacity to learn to things. I do not want to take the opportunities I have for granted.

3. I am also very thankful to have been born in this country. I am a first generation child, my parents both from countries that on average have less opportunities for its citizens. I acknowledge the United states is not perfect, but I do appreciate growing up here. I grew up is Santa Monica california a beautiful and diverse city by the beach in southern california. I am attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which has a beautiful campus on a dream like island with amazing and friendly people. With that being said I understand the socio-economic disparities in both cities I call home. I appreciate what I have and I hope one day I can give back to those in these communities. I appreciate the ability that one day I may be able to help others.

-Joel Ramos

1. I am thankful that I can wake up the next day and expect all of my friends and family to be there waiting to talk to, that and the fact that they're totally understanding that if I'm absent for most of the day it's not because I was intentionally avoiding them or anything but moreso because I was just busy, and ontop of that they're totally understanding of when I need time for myself as well.
2. I am thankful that I have everything I need to do all of my work and still enjoy myself at home with. A lot of commodities and excess living is provided for me readily available. Even if it's not everyday necessities I might not exactly need, I'm still glad I have access to them
3. I am thankful that I love in such a beautiful rich land that is Hawaii, I didn't really fully understand that living here was actually an envy and privilege until people from the mainline were impressed and said I was living in paradise. It has helped me see that where I am currently is actually a wonderful place, even if there are many hardships that still have to be endured here.

1. I am so so very thankful for my health. I have been sick and had my body broken. It hindered me so much. I couldn’t work, I couldn’t go to my happy place, the gym and it hurt my mental health where are we when we don’t have our health? To be able to walk on two feet and stand up straight is a blessing. To be able to brush your teeth is a blessing.

2. I am thankful I was born in America because being in the LGBTQi+ community in Iran or Jamaica or Singapore where being attracted to same sex can get you killed or thrown in jail and/or tortured is horrible. There are people right now, going through that while I sit in Starbucks drinking my coffee like nothing.

3. I’m grateful that I have money to donate to rainbow railway. A nonprofit organization which helps LGBTQi+ people seeking asylum in Canada for fear of being tortured due to being different. This is why I'm going for a psychology degree. I want to work for and defend my people. If I could, I would go to these counties and fight them. and maybe I will leave Hawaii and go to Singapore or Iran to defend them. People aren't aware of the privileges they have being straight. Being into my sex, i am privileged that i don't have to hide it in fear of my life.
- Marin, Maka

She makes life less stressful for me without asking her and expects nothing in return.

3. I am very lucky to have grown up in a house with many different kinds of animals.
