Fishing and Fowling on the Lagoon, by Vittore Carpaccio

I chose this painting because it was very visually pleasing to me, from the foreground to the marsh, mountains, and sky. While this may not be the most realistic example of Italian Renaissance art it still has a pretty realistic scale and accurate human figures. The people hunting in the boats look convincing with their natural contrapposto stances.

I chose this one because I though it showed examples of many characteristics of renaissance art such as, linear perspective, natural depictions of humans, and the emphasis on geometrical shapes. The mathematical disposition of the piece would be very favored by the people paying for these paintings.

During the medieval period artists were often commissioned to paint with expensive material like gold or lapis lazuli. While in the renaissance artist were more valued on their skill and how well they could imitate fancy colors like the blue of lapis lazuli. In this painting Giovanni Bellini masterfully creates vibrant colors and naturally depicts humans in a convincing background.
