         <description><![CDATA[<div>. July 12 1817- he was born.<br>. 1818 Thoreau left concord and moved to chelmsford 10 miles away from there. He moved there to open up a grocery store. when the store closed 3 years later his family moved to Boston and he became a teacher.<br>. 1823 He returned to concord and takes over his brother-in-law pencil factory. he works in this factory throughout his life.<br>. 1828 he enrolled at concord academy.<br>. 1833 he began to study in Harvard. He was voracious student who took far more courses than required.<br>. July 1848 he was jailed for refusing to pay his poll tax.</div>]]></description>
