The educational games just need to be used correctly. When I was observing a second grade class the teacher would teach the lesson using manipulatives. After teaching the lesson she would have the class get their laptop and go to a math game. The game they played went along with the lesson and allowed the students to have fun while learning. She was able to see the students progress on the math games. I think the math games are good to use to help teach the lesson. However, if it is just a low-level game then don't bother with it.
