In 2007 only 13 rhinos a year were killed by poachers but in 2014 the number of rhinos killed was up to 1215. With recent supports thought his number has decreased to 1028 in 2017 which is still way to much.

Some erroneously believe it has medicinal value, capable of anything from curing cancer to working as an aphrodisiac. Others use it as a kind of club drug, to be mixed with water or alcohol.
