Many Hong Kong people go to Che Kung Temple to pray for a blessing, especially on Lunar New Year or on the day of Che Kung's birthday. Most people prepare incense and leave three sticks of incense on the main hall. They also spin the golden pinwheel clockwise with their left hand  to carry on last year's good luck into the next year. In addition, people buy their own pinwheel and place it in positions according to the principles of Feng Shui. Divination (求籤) is also practised in Che Kung Temple as a way of fortune-telling. Che Kung Temple embodies the role of worship culture in Hong Kong. (Fion)

SOCIAL VALUE 

Tung Chung Fort underwent many changes. It was a police station before becoming Wa Ying College. It now serves as the headquarters for the Tung Chung Public School and the Rural Committee Office. As it is very close to the residential area in Tung Chung, the visitors are basically  Tung Chung people. There are a basketball court in the fort and a number of restaurants nearby. Therefore, many Tung Chung would come here would come here in their leisure time.

Chloe 

Tung Chung Fort plays a significant in military history of Hong Kong which was originally erected to combat smugglers during the Southern Song dynasty's Shun Hei era (1174–1189). 300 soldiers were stationed in there, however half of them had been transferred after three year of peace. During the Qing dynasty, any pirates, notably the well-known Cheung Po Tsai, used the fort and bay of Tung Chung as a base during. The fort was erected in 1832 to keep the British out of the area and to repel pirates.

The city wall of Tung Chung Fort is made of granite and it contains three arched city gates: the "Gongchen Gate" in the north, the "Jiexiu Gate" in the east, and the "Liangeng Gate" in the west. Because granite was used extensively throughout the construction, the stair was short and narrow. It depicts the architectural style of the past.

The origin of the temple can be traced back to the end of the Ming Dynasty(明朝). It was renovated once in 1890 and re-constructed in 1994. It is classified as a Grade II historic building since 1987. The walls around Che Kung Temple are decorated with carvings of the spirit animal, and the ridge of the roof is decorated with ceramic sculptures of two dragons and pearls which demonstrate the characteristic feature of Lingnan architecture.  (Fion )

Che Kung was known for his power to suppress chaos and his supreme ability to cure disease. As a result, his followers and worshippers built a temple dedicated to him to praise his power and good deeds. Particularly in recent years when there has been an epidemic, more people have gone to worship Che Kung in the hope that the epidemic will pass soon. Che Kung temple exemplifies the traditional Chinese belief in gods. (Fion)

The Shaw Kei Wan Tram Terminus is one of the seven termini in the tram system. The curve-shaped queue shelter is one of the characteristics in the terminus. Compared with other tram termini, it is built in loop design with an island in the centre. The security pavilion and some plants are placed in the island which makes it aesthetic and functional. People are also able to cross the road between Kam Wa Street and Shau Kei Wan Main Street East by using the island of the terminus. 

Kayan

The Shau Kei Wan Tram Terminus illustrates the lifestyle of local society. Most of the passengers are local residents who are having their daily activities. They take trams to buy groceries or take their children to school. As the fee is very cheap and the stations are close to each other, it makes people’s lives more convenient instead of taking buses or MTR.

Kayan

It is known that the tram is one of the oldest transportation in Hong Kong. The Shau Kei Wan Tram Terminus is built in 1929. It symbolizes the urban development from the 20th to 21st century. The tram rail and the terminus are originally built along the coastline. It is now located in the middle of the downtown because of the reclamation in the 1970s.

Kayan

Blue House is a Tong Lau located in Wan Chai with 100 years history, which had been functioned as hospital, temple and residential. It named “Hua Tao Hospital” in 1872, but closed in 1986 and functioned as temple to worship the doctor Hua Tao till 1920s. And the appearance of Blue House we see today was started from 1922. On the other hand, due to its old history, it had witnessed a lot historical event, for example it was also involved in the 1967 leftist riots. Moreover, it had witnessed the change of Wan Chai in the last century as well.

Social Value：

Blue house had provided a best place for the nearby residents to gather. After it had been preserved, it had became a spot place for the people who lives in Wan Chai. There are also studio for artists and society cultural activities may held regularly. These activities may help gather the residents and build up the sense of community. Last but not least, the society mode of Blue House in 1950s is typical “Shop at the front while living behind”, which had adequately reflected the live of grass-roots level residents in Hong Kong in the old days. 

Chan Wai Lam

The preserve strategy of Blue House had won a greatest prize among the UNESCO Asian Cultural Heritage preservation. This successful experience had provoked not only the government, but also the residents who lives nearby the cultural heritage. Many process of preservation of other buildings in Hong Kong had referenced from the experiences and skills from Blue House, for example PMQ, Central Police Station… Furthermore, in the architecture aspect, Blue House is a typical Long Tau built with 1920-40s style, which is already rare in nowadays.

Chan Wai Lam

1966年開始運作，廠房獨特的外形仿照五、六十年代新式的歐洲麵粉廠，現代主義建築，講求實用，為麵粉廠工序(單一用途)度身訂造，樓高九層，西面設有六條用作儲存小麥的大圓柱，向海的一個圓柱寫有書法體「九龍麵粉廠」五個大字（已故書法家區建公所題的「北魏體」作品：常用於*招牌的字體），二樓有搬運小麥用的吊臂及輸送管道橋樑，橫跨對出的海濱道連接到碼頭，後小麥會先泵入廠房五樓經機器打磨成粉，再「吹」上七樓過濾雜質，最後會跌落六樓再「吹」上七樓包裝。

今市區僅存的麵粉工廠，曾經是觀塘的集體回憶 ，人們從小享用工廠生產的麵粉，見證六十至七十年代工業起飛的傳奇及香港精神，努力拼搏，從山寨廠發展至大型工廠。

[Green – stay calm and carry on] 今時今日仍正常運作生產麵粉，受疫情的影響，為避免倒閉，近年推出家用裝麵粉售賣以吸引更多顧客，設 Facebook page 教授製作蛋糕及年糕的方法，以宣傳自己的麵粉，保持競爭力 = 活歷史 & 建築物內外保存完好，暫時毋須進一步保養
