The holistic approach of occupational therapy supports the ACA's emphasis on wellness and prevention. OTs can assist the interprofessional primary care team in improving outcomes while lowering costs by concentrating on wellness, chronic illness management, increasing function, and promoting independence (AOTA, 2021). Evidence supports the effectiveness of adding an OT to patients' or clients' treatment plan.
