In a response of the HUAC hearings, it resulted in a creation called the blacklist. In total they were 500 people on the list. The people on the list were thought to be part of the communist-influence and their careers were ruined by it. After all of this happened they made a movie about it called "Hollywood Ten", the directer of this movie his name is John Berry; It came out on January 15, 1950.

Britannica, The Editors of Encyclopaedia. “Hollywood Ten.” Encyclopædia Britannica, Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc., 9 Aug. 2016, www.britannica.com/topic/Hollywood-Ten.

Picture Cite:Dunbar, David L. “The Hollywood Ten: The Men Who Refused to Name Names.” The Hollywood Reporter, 16 Nov. 2015, www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/hollywood-ten-men-who-refused-839762.

The Second case is about Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. In 1949 the soviet union tested their atomic bomb and people thought that it would not take much time for the soviets to have their atomic bomb. Some British scientist confessed giving the soviets information about the bomb and they also incriminated Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. They were part of the american communist party, but they refused that they were part of the spying. They were convicted at the end and they were sentenced to death in prison. People found out about their sentence and they appealed for clemency, people said that the evidence was too weak to sentence them for death. The supreme court stuck to their decisions and the Rosenberg was convicted in 1953.

“Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Execution.” History.com, A&E Television Networks, 13 Nov. 2009, www.history.com/this-day-in-history/julius-and-ethel-rosenberg-executed.

Picture Cite:“New Rosenberg Grand Jury Testimony Released!” New Rosenberg Grand Jury Transcripts Released Wednesday, July 15, 2015, nsarchive2.gwu.edu/news/20150714-Rosenberg-spy-case-Greenglass-testimony/.

Joseph McCarthy and McCarthyism

Joseph McCarthy is a Republican senator, he became popular because he claimed that communist was taking over the government and also the democrats were guilty for treason. The worst part is that he did not have evidence to support his claims. His unsupported attacks are called McCarthyism. McCarthyism became a tactic for accusing people of disloyalty when they do not have enough evidence. The people that were supporting McCarthyism was the republicans, they thought that it was a strong way for a anti-communist to win the election of 1952, but other people thought that it was violating the peoples constitutional rights. In 1954 McCarthy made another accusation about the U.S Army. His accusation was televised around the world and many american watched as he accused the U.S army , but he didn't show no evidence. By him doing that people dislike him and he lost public favor, so the senate had to condemn him.

Editors, History.com. “Joseph McCarthy.” History.com, A&E Television Networks, 29 Oct. 2009, www.history.com/topics/cold-war/joseph-mccarthy.

Picture Cite:“McCarthyism: The Rise of Senator Joseph McCarthy.” RTE.ie, 11 May 2017, www.rte.ie/radio1/doconone/2017/0511/874390-mccarthyism-rise-fall-of-sen-joseph-mccarthy/.
