Inserting pictures, shapes, SmartArt, Charts, Video, and Tables

Inserting a picture, shape, or SmartArt was a nice lesson to learn. Finding the perfect photo for your slide is half the battle. Finding the perfect color scheme and deciding on the right shapes or SmartArt is the other half. I learned that a shape will do quite nicely when you need a little something. My favorite shapes are the quarter moon, lightning bolt, smiling face, and the callouts. I think those are amazing! I haven't tried inserting a video or a table, but I'm sure it won't be too hard to figure out.

Themes and Variants

Changing the colors of the slides can be made with theme and variants. The nice thing about themes and variants is the option to change all of the slides to the same theme and variant or you can have a different theme for every slide. There are a variety of colors and shades to choose from. The layouts are different with each theme. I think this makes creating your presentation in slides fun and interesting. I can use more theme options but I reminded myself that it wasn't PowerPoint. Slides would be a little limited. Once I told myself that, I was ok with it.

Transitions

Transitions are the very best part of this lesson. It doesn't have as many as Microsoft PowerPoint, but it is perfect for me. It is simple for just a few and I appreciate that. I don't need a lot of different choices to make my mind up. I had fun playing around with the transitions and motions. Because slides have a different layout than PowerPoint, I may have to get used to where things are. Other than that, I really enjoyed the lesson on transitions.

What I will continue to use

I absolutely loved transitions. Figuring out how you want the slide to approach the audience is so much fun. My downfall would be not knowing how much is too much. I like finding the pictures for my presentations, but wanting the perfect photo to represent what I'm trying to say can make me rush to beat deadlines. I started extremely nervous about learning slides, but I'm feeling more confident that I can put a presentation together and have my audience know exactly what I'm trying to tell them. I will continue using the transition part on my slides, but finding the photos, using SmartArt, and shapes will be a challenge for me. I will use a chart if one of my presentations has something to do with number figuring. Other than that, I wouldn't see me using charts in slides.
