The last few weeks I've been carrying around my water bottle with me in my backpack to try to increase my water intake. Initially, I tried to drink about a gallon a day, but that was just too much for me. Now, I just strive for drinking an adequate amount throughout the day, typically about a half gallon or more.

Caloric deficit= weight loss!

When I started this journey, I didn't really have the intention of losing any weight. After some consideration, I gave it a shot! In less than 2 weeks, I was able to lose about 5 lbs and the only difference in my daily routine was I cut out a couple hundred calories from my daily intake. Remember, energy balance is the only factor of weight loss or weight gain!

Meal prep

I've started reading some articles and giving some thought to meal prepping. I think meal prepping will make eating healthier foods easier for me since the meal is already prepared. On the other hand, I get really bored of a food if I have to eat it more than one day in a row; I like to mix it up a lot! I think I'm going to give this a try and if I like it then I will stick with it!

One of the most important things when it comes to sticking to a meal plan is finding foods that you enjoy. Each person has their own likes and dislikes with food. Being a college athlete, I want to eat the right food to ensure I compete at peak performance. The night before a track meet, I like to have a meal with a lot of carbs such as spaghetti or pizza. Then on the morning of the meet, I have a big breakfast with a lot of protein and carbs, such as eggs, cheese, sausage, and toast. I've found that this routine fills me up and keeps me firing on all cylinders!!
