Q1.What was the jet doing flying anywhere near their community? It was a supposed accident.
Q2.Why do they mention children's ages like they are a group, for example "she is a seven and I am an eleven"? We don't know, its just the way they are organised.

Main points: Jet flies over community "accidentally, twice". Discover that the method of punishment is called being released. Their family discusses emotions at the dinner table. All the children seem very intelligent. They are trying to take in a boy with growth problems. Families are instead called family units. They have something called the ceremony of twelve where once a child turns twelve he/she goes to receive a job. A family has to consist of a mother, father, daughter and son, no more no less.

Q1.Why are there different ceremonies for all ages of children? Because each child unlocks a new responsability or privilige
Q2.Why is there a naming process for all of the children, but the parents don't get to choose the name. Because its just the way they are organised

Main points: Even children can be released if they have some sort of disability. Family units can temporarily adopt an extra child if it is permitted by the "committee". The community has different jobs for everybody, for example, nurturers take care of newborn children. There are namers that state which child receives which name, for example "Child Fourty-Six receives the name Kadin". Each child receives a bike at the age of nine and is not allowed to ride until then. That rule is almost always broken though and there is no consequence to teaching a younger sibling how to ride a bike.

Q1.Why do so many of the citizens have dark eyes? Pale eyes indicates the ability to receive which is rare
Q2.Why are mirrors so rare. We don't find out

Main points: To have pale eyes is rare, as most people have darker eyes, unlike Jonas, Gabe and an unnamed 4. Stuffed animals are called comfort objects and get taken away at eight. Certain people get assigned as "birthmother", those people are meant to have the children but are only allowed to have three children until they are reassigned as a laborer. The birth mothers get treated like royalty until their reassignment, for example they get very nice food and have a large house to live in. The kids start their volunteer hours at eight. All of the girls need to have ribbons neatly tied into their hair. Apple being tossed around by Jonas and Asher suddenly changes mid air. Jonas cannot describe the changes that happened as they seemed to revert to normal after landing in Jonas' hand and only happened for a split second while it was in the air.

Q1.Why are there so many rules? to keep the community in place
Q2.Are bikes the only method of transport? no the receiver gets a car

Main points: Bragging is against the rules as well as to be rude to another person. Children have to take care of the elderly, they bathe them and help them walk. It is against the rules to see ones "nakedness", except for newborn and elderly people. When elders become to old they get released at a ceremony where all of the elders come, at the ceremony, they tell the elders life story. Children are not permitted to attend this ceremony as there is not enough room.

Jonas has his "stirrings". Stirrings are supposed to be treated. Stirrings are treated with pills. Houses are instead called dwellings. Everyone eventually has stirrings and needs to take pills for them until they enter the house of old. The pills must be taken daily for all of your adult life.

I don't know

Main points: Numbers for the children seem to be used in ceremonies and if the child is getting a scalding. Most of the rules are ridiculous and get commonly broken. After the ceremony of twelve age doesn't matter, most adults forget their age but there is a database that holds all of the ages of everyone. Everyone gets their assignments. He hears music then the book ends.

Main points:Jonas is very far from the community and notices changes in the road like the narrowness and bumpiness. the bumps cause jonas to fall and twist his ankle as well as scrape his knew but gabe is fortunately unharmed. forests become thicker and darker as well as there are more streams along the path. jonas is aware of what gabe thinks is a plane but when he looks up it is a bird, he also sees a red fox along the path and his first waterfall. jonas and gabe are very short on food and are constantly starving.

Jonas left early to take gabriel with him to prevent his release. jonas gives gabe his most soothing memory. Jonas escapes the community and gives gabe his breakfast. The community sends out jets that have thermal sensors that can see body heat but jonas uses a memory of cold to turn down their body temperature. there are also search teams that are patrolling the area but because only jonas sees color the foliage protects them.

The most important theme from the giver is byfar pleasure and pain because this story depicts a community with an immense amount of ridiculous rules that prevent the residents from doing anything but at the same time it keeps everything organised so nothing gets out of hand.

Also, the community chooses everything for everybody. This prevents people from doing something they actually want and makes the community a lot less happy, but at the same time it keeps the community in tact with people doing jobs that they would do best at rather than enjoy doing.
