Boston Massacre

The Boston Massacre was one of the most fatal events during the
Revolutionary War (a.k.a. the American Revolution). It involves a few horrible deaths and very tragic moments. Before the Boston Massacre started, there was already a lot of rebelling and punishing going on. One of the first documents that started to make the colonists angry was the Proclamation of 1763, which required colonists to quarter British troops and provide them with food and other supplies. Next, came the Stamp Act which taxed most paper goods and materials.
The purpose of the Stamp Act was to raise money for colonial military expenses. The Sugar Act was the next act in which the colonies would put a duty on several products because of smugglers. Soon enough, people started to get angry at all of the taxes and aimed to destroy the tax revenues which were kept in a Custom's House. The Americans attacked the British but the British counter attacked and killed the colonists in the Boston Massacre.

One of the key events that occured during this time period is known as the "Boston Massacre", which was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770. The altercation took place between an angry crowd of workers and sailors who threw snowballs, stones, and sticks, at a squad of British soldiers. The newly passed measures caused the loss of many innocent lives.

By defeating France, Britain solved one problem, however created another. In the last days of the French and Indian War, the leader of the Ottawa nation, Pontiac, formed an alliance of western Native Americans and attacked British forts and settlements. Many forts were destroyed and many living in the backcountry were killed. The British decided to retaliate by killing innocent Native Americans. The British finally defeated Pontiac's force. However, Pontiac fought for another year. Britain wanted to avoid futher wars, therefore they established the Proclamation of 1763, which banned colonists to settle west of a line drawn along the Appalachain Mountains. Many colonists disagreed with the proclamation, and wanted to reside where they felt fit to.

After the French and Indian War, the British were left deeply in debt. Britain, in an act to earn money created two new acts, the Sugar Act and the Quartering Act. The Sugar Act placed a duty on several products, including molasses. The Quartering Act required colonists to quarter British troops and provide them with food and other supplies. Once again, colonists disagreed. They complained that Parliament was violationg their rights, so they protested.

In another effort to save and earn money, the Parlaiment passed the Stamp Act. This act required that all colonists buy special tax stamps for all kinds of products and activities. The stamps had to be placed on newspapers, wills, licenses, insurance policies, land titles, contracts, and other documents. Unlike the other acts, the effects of the Stamp Act was far-reaching, affecting colonies such as Virginia, New York, and some others. These colonies protested, boycott, and petitioned to show their rage. The protesting worked and the Stamp Act was repealed. However a new act was created in its place, known as the Declaratory Act. The Declaratory Act stated that Parliament had control over all colonies. This started more trouble than ever before between Britain and its' colonies.

British officials searched for a way that they could tax colonists without angering them. Therefore, they created the Townshend Act. The Townshed Act stated Britain would no longer tax products or activities inside the colonies, they would only tax products brought into colonies. Officers used writs of assistance to search for illegal goods coming into Britain. Many colonists refused to supply money to feed the soldiers under the Quatering Act. The Parliament Act didn't act in time, causing angry colonists to crowd around soldiers rioting. This is known as the Boston Massacre.

The Boston Massacre was an event of violence and brutality during The American Revolution. This massacre involved horrific deaths, and horrific moments. Many acts, taxes and laws were passed to the colonists. Some of these such as the Writs of Assistance, which affected with the privacy and rights of the colonists that lived there, Pontiac's War and proclamation of government of 1763 which banned settlements west of a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains brought disagreements and arguments among the colonists and Britain. These acts, wars and proclamations has put a toll on the colonists behalf on their rights towards everything they do and own. In general they believed that they shouldn't have been treated as such and sought for better treatment by rebelling. Due to the wars and rebellions, the colonies fell into financial problems which stored up more tension between Britain and colonists in America. These events caused many to suffer by death or injuries. After the event Samuel Adams former cousin of John Adams, sought to create peace for all. He then established The Committees of Correspondence a way in which colonists could have a way of staying united against the British Actions.
