I was really surprised about two families showed in the video, but not about what were their feelings or how they were living the lockdown but about the members in them. They were the British family and the Iranian family.
Whenever you think in a British familly , the image is kids that leave home when they have to start college and they never return to visit their family, except in holidays and in other special ocasiones, for that reason to see a daughter in her forties living with her parents made me thought it is unusual in this society. Something similar happens with Iranian family, this society has birth rates bigger than developed countries like Spain or United Kingdom, therefore a only child family is not a representative family of this society.

In our last speaking session (30th April 2020), we had an interesting talking about different issues in relation to our present situation of COVID19 confinament.

We were discussing our current conditions of teleworking or imagining futural scenarios but what impressed me the most was how similar we are in the whole Earth Planet (1) as we talk about family. Yesterday, on Mother's Day, one of my children's teacher send us an email in which he explained he has posed the same question to his pupils for many years, obtaining an invariable answer:

"- What is the most important issue for you? - the teacher asked

- The family - the kids answered" (2)

The above mentioned remind me of some words of the Spanish songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat in a documentary ('El Símbolo y el Cuate' (3), filmed during a joint tour with his 'cousin' Joaquín Sabina (4). At the end of the documentary, somebody asked Serrat what he had learned after so many years visiting so many countries. He answered that he had confirmed how people wanted more or less the same in all the countries: "To have a mild and pleasant life and that their children will do well in their owns". This is what I've checked in the video we watch with people from different countries participating.

Will we be able to make a better world after this crisis? As Harari said in his article, nothing is decided as we all have to do it. To begin with, I guess we should try to increase definitely our actual scarce efforts to protect the environment: we have to Heal the World (5).

(Sorry for the Spanish references in an English activity)

(1) 'Earth Song' by Michael Jackson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAi3VTSdTxU

(2) 'Running in the family' by Level 42

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm9D1-_ElGk

(3) 'El Símbolo y el Cuate' Tralier

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfG15suHReY

(4) Mi primo el Nano (Joaquín Sabina)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_kH6tm9ouw

(5) `Heal the World' by Michael Jackson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWf-eARnf6U

or, perhaps, you’d prefer this version…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6d6Yo3DwVI

Last Thursday we were talking about different articles we had read and about a very touchy video we watched. In the video there were families from 9 different countries, they talked about their routines while they are housebound, about their fears but also about the things they have learned with this situation, their hopes. What is quite curious is that all around the world we have been doing the same things, in the end we have much more things in common than we normally think

I have written under this title speaking about the video we watched the other day but then I saw that I appeared as anonymous so I have registered to publish with my name. I have read this morning one of the articles Olimpia sent us for last class, the one from Yuval Noah talking about the measures taken for the present situation and the surveillance we are struggling “to preserve our safety”. He mentions something I consider particularly interesting and is that we would Follow the rules better if we had trust in our governments, in the media and in our health system. He mentions also global co-operation as essential to find a solution and improve our societies. I think is the article I have enjoyed the most

Although we are going through a very worrying situation and terrible stories come up almost everyday, we can say this lockdown has brought us beautiful things.
For some these things can be translated as kindness and unity, for others simply timing for them themselves. But without hesitation, all of us have realised that feeling the warmth of our friends and family, despite the distance, is what we really need to keep on living and being happy, the rest is superfluous... don’t you think?
Have a nice week and stay healthy.

We used to live in an impersonal world, where the technology had won the battle agains the personal relationships. Individualism was the king of the universe, an old neighbourd could die in their house and nobody miss them for weeks until a strange smell went out their house, families didn´t use to speak and parents didn´t use to play with their kids. Then, a global pandemic was declared , everybody had to stay at home for months, neighbourd started to know each other between balcons and windows, parents came back to play with their children , the sound of the birds went back to hear in the citys, the atmosphere was breathable again, people smile with a simple walk and they were anxious to kiss their friends and family. We went out to the exterior after two months , we found another world and we liked it.

Talking about the article (Yuva Noha Hariri), I could observe that we had some different perspectives, which went from the total distrust in the data and information we have been receiving, to a more reflexive attitude of alert: we need to be aware that if we are frightened and scared, we might be more manipulable.

Although, talking about the video, all of us agree that the feelings of people in lockdown were very similar around the world, all of them giving great value to their loved ones. I really hope and wish that we could keep the awareness of what is really and deeply valuable for us in life and what really nurtures us as human beings.
