Closed Sidewalks

While Driving down one of the main streets in the area, I notices that the sidewalks on both sides of the road in various places was closed. This makes people that are using these walk ways have to walk into the road which can be a big danger an any time but even more so during rush hour and at night time. This is a big concern especially with the high amount of traffic these get with kids walking to school.

Snow and ice covered sidewalks

I know it takes time to get all of the sidewalks plowed, it had been over a day since the snow had stopped and the city still hadn't plowed the sidewalks. This is very concerning since you can see that these sidewalks are heavily used by the people in this area. The city needs to have a faster respond time to this in order to keep those safe from slipping and falling.

Vacant spaces

This is a photo of a stand alone building that is vacant, i saw many other vacant space in various retail strips along 7th east. A lack of business happening in the area is not good and vacant spaces often get vandalized and can be destroyed bringing an even worse public image to the area.

Fallen trees

It may be hard to see but there is a fence under the majority of theres fallen trees. These trees are between private property and a public paved walkway. They pose a large potential threat is someone were to walk by and they were to fall. I was shocked to see these in this shape because of the danger that it put those walking by in.

Schools

As I drove by the schools in the area, they were actually well kept. I know that this post is about finding deficits in the area but the schools were in great shape besides the fact that they were all old. From the houses and seeing various other things in the area I would guess that it is a low income are and perhaps that is why the schools haven't been updated for quite some time.

Parks

Besides snow on all of the sidewalks still, the parks appeared to be in great shape. Who knows if there was grass or mud under the snow but it made for beautiful scenes. All the bathrooms were locked which I would assume is typical at every park but the facilities that I could see looked great.
