  • Students are to be registered within the first 10 minutes of every lesson.
  • NSC On Call e-mail is immediately sent (key students – absent from lesson).
  • Student Support Assistant adheres to Golden Hour (sign displayed in the House Office) to complete First Contact Home 
  • Attendance Chat with Form Tutor after every absence
  • Student monitoring and Student Discussion template completed when attendance is a concern.

  • Weekly attendance provided to each tutor by a ‘Tutor Folder’. Students are aware of their attendance and this is highlighted on the Attendance Cone.

    KS3 students who are identified with a reading age below 8 will be grouped in a smaller class for English, MFL, History and Geography lessons.

    In these subjects, students will receive a range of different interventions (outlined in post above).

    Students who make accelerated progress in the Literacy Booster class are able to move out into a different class.

    Students listen to a fiction book read aloud in History, and read a non-fiction book in Geography, using Reciprocal Reader strategies to support with reading comprehension.  

    Texts have been chosen to complement the Autumn term curriculum. 

    Students resume following the normal Yr 7 History and Geography curriculum in the Spring term.

    We use various literacy and numeracy interventions as part of our ‘Developing Fluency’ programme.  Details of these interventions, and the intervention pathways we use, are found on the posts below.

    Students that are part of this programme receive a letter home to inform families at the start of this intervention. They also receive a termly Developing Fluency Reports which is sent home to share progress in literacy and/or numeracy. 

    2. At KS4 we mainly focus on subject specific interventions, but we continue to work with targeted students who still need additional literacy and numeracy support.
