1. A positive community of students. 
2. Assignments and activities that require students to rely on each other and work together. 
3. Engaging activities
Collaborative classrooms can be challenging, but are very rewarding. Students need to know the expectations of collaborative learning and it is important to model what collaborative learning looks like for your students. Choosing the right activities for collaboration makes sure all students can find an access point and find purpose in the collaboration. Every student needs a role and needs to feel they play an important part in their group.

1. Create a class website- They are great for posted announcements, assignments, and resources.  You will find students AND parents will use it as a tool.
2.  Keep open communication- Even if this means just using email, connect with students and parents with regular communication.  Remind is an easy way to communicate!
3. Don't reinvent the wheel- There are so many great ideas, lesson plans, teaching tools, and resources out there!
