The first day in the North was a nightmare for Buck. The dogs here fought like real wolves. The way the leader of the Pomeranian dog became a harsh lesson for Buck. From that moment on, Buck hated Spitz with a fierce, deadly hatred.

Buck, along with other dogs, is harnessed to a sled. If the dog got off his feet, Dave or the Pomeranian bit him with his teeth, and Francois sought order with a whip. Buck learns everything quickly. The work is hard, but the dog does not feel disgusted by it. Dogs work hard and get very tired. Buck learns another lesson: you have to eat fast, otherwise the other dogs will snatch the ration, and he will remain hungry. Buck also learned how to steal food and get away with it. He also learned to sleep in a hole in the snow. He's going wild. The past of his forgotten ancestors is being revived in him.

Initially, Back doesn't provoke Spitz, but his rival consistently instigates conflicts. One day, Spitz seizes a burrow dug by Back in the snow. He charges at Spitz. However, their confrontation is interrupted by a swarm of a hundred hungry dogs, drawn by the scent of food, attacking the camp. A brawl ensues between the sled dogs and the newcomers.

Back transforms into a cunning, power-hungry dog, aiming to claim leadership. He undermines Spitz's authority within the team. Amidst the chaos, only Dave and Sol-leks maintain composure and continue to work harmoniously.

During a chase, when a dog misses a hare, the entire pack lunges after it. Back's primal instincts awaken, propelling him ahead of the pack. Yet, Spitz outmaneuvers him, seizing the hare first and sinking his teeth into its back. Sensing a life-or-death moment, Back finds himself at a disadvantage against Spitz, who deftly evades his attacks. Despite Back's relentless assaults, Spitz remains unscathed. However, at the final moment, Back alters his strategy: deceiving his opponent, he manages to sever Spitz's left paw, emerging victorious

The next morning, Francois Couldn't find the Spitz. After examining Beck's wounds, he realizes what happened: " I spiktruew'enI saydatBuck two devils?" Perrault and Francois contemplate as the conflicts subside. The dog's behavior suggests a desire to assume leadership from Francois, swiftly asserting dominance over the others. Meanwhile, the dogs are achieving a record-breaking run.
Then three or foui western bad men aspired to clean out the town, were riddled like pepper-boxes for their pains, and public interest turned to other idols. Next came

5 official orders. Francois called Buck to him, threw his armsaroundhim, weptoverhim. Andthatwasthe last of Francois and Perrault. Like other men, they passed out of Buck's life for good.

A Scotch half-breed took charge of him and his 10 mates, and in company with a dozen other dog-teams he started back o^er the weary trail to Dawson.

Now, day after day, they toil, hauling sleds laden with heavy cargo. Beck feels no longing for home; his instincts drive him inexorably forward.Dave started to get very sick and stopped eating, he started to fall, but none of the people could understand what was happening to him. They examined the dog but found no broken bones. In the end, he couldn't walk and was shot.

The owner, along with Buck's team, arrives at Skagway. "The dogs were completely exhausted and worn out." The dogs are sold to Americans Charles and Hal. Accompanying them is a woman — Mercedes, Charles's wife and Hal's sister, a pampered and capricious beauty. These three individuals are entirely ill-equipped for the North's conditions. They overload the sleds for the dogs, lack skills in handling animals, and disregard the advice of experienced individuals. During the journey, dog food depletes rapidly, progress is slow, quarrels are frequent, and the dogs succumb to exhaustion and hunger one by one. "Thus, they reached John Thornton's camp at the mouth of the White River." Thornton warns them that spring has arrived, the ice is on the verge of breaking, and continuing further is perilous. However, they ignore his warning. Hal resorts to whipping the dogs to spur them on. Only Buck remains motionless, infuriating Hal. The young man reaches for a club. John intervenes to protect Buck, leading to a confrontation between Thornton and Hal, causing the young man to back off. Buck stays by his protector's side.

The sleds slide onto the river ice. However, soon the ice beneath them begins to sink, and both humans and dogs disappear beneath the water.

Thornton cares for the dog. Buck falls in love with him, feeling more love towards him than his first owner, Judge. Upon the return of John's companions, Hans and Pete, Buck tolerates them graciously because of his loyalty to his owner, accepting their kindness. Observing Buck's loyalty, Pete once remarked to John that he wouldn't want to be in the shoes of Thornton's adversary.

Pete was right. One day at a bar, John tried to break up a fight, but one of the participants struck him. Buck immediately lunged at the attacker, managing to bite his neck. In the autumn of the same year, Buck saves Thornton. John's boat capsized, and the current swept him towards the most dangerous part of the rapids. But Buck, tied with a rope by Pete and Hans, pulls his owner out.

In Dawson City, during winter, Buck brings John sixteen hundred dollars. The bet was that the dog would haul a thousand pounds and cover a hundred yards. And Buck accomplished it.

Thornton and his companions embark on an eastern journey in pursuit of gold. After extensive travels, they stumble upon "surface diggings in a broad valley... where they extracted thousands of dollars' worth of clean gold sand and nuggets daily."

One night, Buck hears a distant howl — a call that rings familiar to him. In an open clearing, he encounters a lean wolf, previously chased by Buck but now seen without fear. They greet each other in a friendly manner.

"Buck is overcome with wild excitement, knowing he's running alongside his woodland brother towards the source of the powerful call he's heard in both dreams and waking moments." During the day, Buck recalls Thornton and returns to camp.

However, the persistent call continues to echo in Buck's ears. By the river, he confronts and defeats a bear, driven by a desire for a significant catch. Soon after, he successfully drives away an old moose leader from the herd, pursuing it relentlessly until it weakens. With John Thornton in mind, Buck hurries back to camp. "On his journey, Buck senses a growing sense of something new and unsettling." Upon reaching the campsite, he discovers the lifeless bodies of John's dogs, along with Hans and Pete, surrounded by dancing Yeehats. "Buck loses control, his deep love for John Thornton driving him to madness." Like a raging storm, he attacks the Yeehats, "consumed by an insatiable thirst for vengeance." He violently dispatches the Indians, prompting them to flee in horror.

Despite his search, Buck fails to find John's body; the trail of his struggle leads only to the pond, where it ends. "John Thornton is gone. The final ties are severed. Men and their demands no longer hold sway over Buck." He joins the wolf pack.
