         <description><![CDATA[<div>What's awesome about Automobile Service?  Got the car lift installed<br>- Now able to work on cars with each kid (groups of 2-3) disassemble the cars and put them back together<br>-Stream compressors, tire balancers, tire changing machines, special tools you would find in an automotive shop, <br>Program got accredited last year <br><br>Automotive Service Excellence Test Certification (2 years of experience)<br><br>Maintenance and Light Repair Certification Test<br><br>Automotive I, II, and III<br><br>Parent communication-  <br>Impact of supportive parents is extremely helpful<br>Some frustration when parents are not supportive<br><br>When students are able to take Automotive (and Carpentry)  two periods in a row it is very helpful to cover the curriculum (book work and hands on).<br><br>CTE Advanced Studies (requires a paper and a project in the class) is the option to allow them to take two classes in a row.<br><br>Being able to do an on-the-job-training experience would make a difference in what skills our students left high school with<br><br>Simulations on the computer do not help you understand the concepts.-- everybody can't read that book<br><br>Need for projects for our students<br>More time/money for these projects<br><br>12 kids in a class - what we remember from Vocational-Technical classes<br><br>1st project - GreenHouse - seniors on point<br><br><strong>Mr Grantham </strong><br>Carpentry and Core Curriculum <br>Core Curriculum - Safety Course<br>Certification for Core Class<br>Carpentry 1 and 2 - they can achieve a certification<br>His classes will build a 9'X9' "tiny house" on a platform this semester.<br>Then he is going to auction it off.  It's going to have two floors.  It will have a little kitchen with plumbing.  Safety is such an important part of his curriculum.    He is going to make some Plinko game boards and the art teacher is going to paint them.<br><br>Collins has used the  OSHA.gov/hazfinder website - plays like a game and the students have to identify the safety hazards  and OSHAtrain.org/courses where the students work on safety.  (scores are only available if you pay for them)<br><br><strong>Mr. Young</strong><br>Sports and Entertainment Marketing, I &amp; II<br>Watch games and they write up reports.  They talk basketball, football, and contracts.  They also talk events - like Festivals.  They talk about the businesses that are generated from their entertainment events.  <br>Mr.Young is going to implement a rubric for the students to use when they present a lesson.  Students decide how to access the other students.  <br><br><br></div>]]></description>
