I think that if Langston went back to the church he wouldn't say anything to anyone. He would probably keep his secret and tell it years later. That's if he even returns to the church because he would feel so ashamed for not just lying to the church but his aunt.

I want to make a connection to the movie Rapunzel. We know that Rapuzel is not actually Mother Gothels daughter. Rapunzel does not know that. It connects to the Salvation text because Langstons aunt does not know the true reason Langston is crying. The audience does know. They both also represent dramatic irony.

A prediction for Langston's future if the story were to be longer I think that what would happen next is that he may confess his actions about what he did because as the story ends we see that he was crying because he couldn't bear to tell his aunt that he lied about being saved. I don't think he would return to the church if he were to tell his aunt as he doesn't believe in Jesus anymore since he didn't get saved or was helped in the time he needed the most. As in the end of the story it states "She woke up and told my uncle I was crying because the Holy Ghost had come into my life, and because I had seen Jesus. But I was really crying because I couldn't bear to tell her that I had lied, that I had deceived everybody in the church, that I hadn't seen Jesus, and that now I didn't believe there was a Jesus anymore, since he didn't come to help me" (Hughes 2)

In the text it talks about them going to church and giving themselves to God. This happens in real life, many people go to church or give themselves to the god they believe in. Just how in the text they were very emotional and wanted Westly to give himself to god it also has happened to people while at church.

The reason that I believe this is becuase he seemed to really want to believe that he was going to be saved, he wanted it to be true, he though to himself why Jesus wasn't coming to him and if it was something he did wrong.

A prediction that I can say for Langston's Future is that he will no longer believe in Jesus as the event that happened in the story. as near the end of the story, It states " I had deceived everybody in the church, that I hadn't seen Jesus, and that now I didn't believe there was a Jesus anymore." He will probably live upon that small lie or he will say what actually happened and let all the guilt out of his system. Probably not, because if he did confess on what actually happened he would feel more guilty for not seeing Jesus and would be ashamed to attend the church

If the story was longer, I feel like Langston would lose his passion to go to church, leading him to be feeling like he's being forced to believe in God. I think this because of the last sentence of the text, where he says he doesn't believe there was a Jesus anymore. He might eventually confess to his aunt that he doesn't believe and have faith in his religion anymore.

I think Langston would go back to the church because he is an honest and good kid. Langston wouldn't react the same since Jesus didn't come save him so he doesn't think there was a Jesus. I would predict that if the story was longer, Langston would eventually break telling his aunt he didn't find Jesus and that he didn't believe in Jesus anymore also telling her that he just got up to not keep anyone waiting. His aunt would be devastated but she would still try to take him back to try to find Jesus once again.

It will probably soon get to him while he's in church, he won't be able to keep the lie to himself anymore and would tell his Auntie Reed and his uncle which lead to him actually getting saved in church.

I think people in the real world lie sometimes to fit in just like Langston lied about seeing Jesus for his aunt and the way he and others would feel after lying was guilty because he knows he didn't but see Jesus he had to lie so the pressure he was feeling could be less overwhelming.
I think for Langstons future he would have to keep up the lie around his aunt and every time he would go to church because he would feel worse telling his family he lied especially as he gets older.
Hughes is trying to convey that lying is not the best idea especially because eventually the lie can catch up to you

I think that Langston will grow up as a person who has trouble with his identity and beliefs.When he goes back to church I feel like his guilty consciousness would get to him and eventually he would end up telling the truth based on how he was after saying he was saved. He states himself that "That night for the first time in my life but one for I was a big bot twelve years old I cried, I cried in bed alone and couldn't stop I buried my head under the quilts" (Hughes 2).

I think Langston will continue to go to church every day and understand what his aunt and everybody else in the church meant by Jesus is coming into your life. "I had heard a great many old people say the same thing, and it seemed to me they ought to know. So I sat there calmly in the hot, crowded church, waiting for Jesus to come to me."

This text reminds me of real-world situations I have witnessed with religion and church. Most people I know develop the religion that their family had taught them, which is what was almost going to happen with Langston. Since Jesus didn't come to him, he began losing faith in his religion. People I know in real life that have been in similar situations usually don't end up going back to their religion. I think this is what will happen with Langston.

I feel later on Langston would question his mother and tell her why he lied and how he truly felt about Jesus. I feel people at the church would despise him for how he felt and he would maybe not return. He would probably move on with his life and see what happened as just a bad memory or will have troubles with his faith holding him back. He would most likely see the church in good light due to the events that occurred. He may return just to see how it was doing. I predict that Langston would set aside christianity because at the end of the text, he said that he didn't believe there was a Jesus anymore because he hadn't come save him. Since he stopped believing in Jesus, I can only guess that he will continue to drift away from Jesus until he stops being christian entirely.

I think if Langston went to his aunt and told her the truth. Which would lead to him and his Aunt having a conversation about why he lied. Then his would lead to his aunt telling him to tell him to tell the truth to the church . This connects to Mr.Curry and Mr.Wall they both had to tell people the truth about how they felt to get were they are now.

I connect Langston's experience to the character starlight glimmers experience in my little pony. In her backstory she experiences a friend turning their back on her and forgetting about her. This reminds me of how Langston feels like God didn't come to help him and left him alone. So now how starlight doesn't believe in the power of friendship langston doesn't believe in Jesus.

I believe that Langston would go to the church alone in order to repent his sin for lying. His guilt would eat him up so much, he would come back admitting his fault and telling the church how sorry he is. Langston would also admit later to his family that he had not seen Jesus or felt the light. This lie will continue to hurt him until he admits at fault. At the end of the story he had stated, " But I was really crying because I couldn't bear to tell her that I had lied, that I had deceived everybody in the church, that I hadn't seen Jesus." He cried because of a lie, which is why I think he will repent for his sins alone.

I predict that he will grow up to become an atheist and lose all belief towards God/Jesus; Focusing solely on writing about his life and stories. When he returns to the church, his auntie might try to convince him to join them again in prayer and salvation (if she ever found out about his lie) or simply hug him and keep believing that he believes in god. If he will ever return- I do think so; to either confess or to keep up his lie. My reason for believing this is that he was shown to be drawn to honesty and purity when he was placed among the other "lambs" and that he never really wanted to lie, he only stood up to stop the wait of the adults. So it is likely that he will want to confess or actually start believing in God/Jesus.

I'm making a connection to DBZ cell arc when Trunks lost Gohan to the androids, it gives a similar feeling to when Langston Hughes feels like he lost his connection with Jesus. With in both instances after realizing what happened they both felt massive amounts of guilt for their actions, with Trunks not being able to save Gohan and Langston Hughes having to lie to everyone around him about seeing Jesus. Both cried over the weight of their guilt having similar feelings.

If the story was longer, my prediction would be that Langston would eventually confess to his aunt about how he has deceived the whole church. His aunt will then take him back to church when it's just them two, to confess his sins to God from lying, this is when Langston will begin to feel the presence of the Holy Ghost and Jesus. When Langston returns back to church he wouldn't feel this heavy burden of guilt that he experienced the night he lied to the church.

In the text Langston talks about him and his family's relationship to church. In church Langston helps kids to have a relationship with God. Now in real life they do the same thing but they just call it "Bible Studies". Also people try their best and call on Jesus to try and receive the holy spirit. This text also connects to the song "On Time God' because in the song God showed up in the right time for this lady. The lady was dealing with health problems and God came and saved her just like he's gonna save Langston.

In South Park, Kyle Broflovski, stopped believing in God. He stopped believing in God because of how Cartman's business was succeeding and he was having a horrible hemorrhoid. Like Langston, they both stopped believing in a specific "higher" power because of how things weren't going well for them or because of how things were going terrible. Langston stopped believing in Jesus when Kyle stopped believing in God. Kyle was upset that Cartman's business was succeeding because Cartman is a horrible person and has been mean to everyone and anyone. Langston stopped believing in Jesus because of how Jesus didn't help him when he was stuck and felt alone, that is how Kyle also felt when he was in the hospital because of his hemorrhoid.

Id like to make a connection of Langston's experience with Mulan as the 2 seem to take their elders words seriously for example:

Mulan had took her father's words of "only a man can fight in the war" quite seriously & hid herself as a man in order to fight the war while Langston had took his aunt's words of "When you're saved, you saw a light, & something happened to you inside & Jesus comes into your life " to literal and ended up sitting on the opposite side of the Church while waiting to see Jesus

I predicted that when Langston after he wakes up he will feel so guilty and he will confess to his aunt and the preacher. He will feel ashame of him self and his aunt will be disapointed in him because he lied. Then he will say that he dosen't belive on Jesus so his aunt will be angry that she yelled at Langston.The preacher will stop the aunt from yelling and say to Langston that why he dosen't. Langston will explain why and then the preacher will try to convince him that Jesus is real.

2) If the story continued I think it would have talked about Langston's journey with him being unsure in his faith of Jesus and his religion as a whole. I think this because the last paragraph in the text talked about Langstons reaction to him being unfaithful and lying in the church. "...I had deceived everybody in the church, that I hadn't seen Jesus, and that now I didn't believe there was a Jesus anymore, since he didn't come to help me" (Langston 2). I think he would still go to church but he wouldn't have much passion in the church. I don't think based on his actions he will confess but he will instead keep it to himself and lead his adulthood without his religion.

If the story was longer, I think Langston would have a hard time in church because he would be reminded of what he did and feel guilty. Langston would still have trouble by questioning his faith and deciding whether he truly believes in Jesus. This is shown at the end of the story where he said, "now that I didn't believe there was a Jesus anymore, since he didn't come to help me." (Hughes 2). Eventually, I think he will end up telling his aunt and asking for guidance on how to deal with his feelings and thoughts.

I predict that Langston's aunt will continue to bring him to the church that I believe will bring him nothing but more guilt. I feel like each time he goes to the church, his guilt will consume him even more. He will look at the face of Jesus and feel sorrow at the fact that he wasn't chosen to be saved like the other children. I think he'll try and pray to Jesus for a sign that he loves him as much as the other children, yet will lose hope after not getting the real face of Jesus to tell him that he's there for him. I believe he will grow farther from his aunt as she will push the fact that the Holy Ghost saved him.

I'm making a connection to when Trunks lost Gohan to the Androids in DBZ the cell arc. Both characters lost something in their life, Trunks with Gohan and Langston Hughes with Jesus. With both Trunks and Langston Hughes feeling massive amounts of guilt over their actions, Trunks not being able to help Gohan and Langston Hughes lying about seeing Jesus. Both expressing their emotions by crying over their giant burden of guilt, with both of them feeling loss throughout their story.

Auntie Reed will question him constantly and try to force him to go. Eventually he will tell her that he lied. Auntie Reed will be very shocked, and will make him go back to the church to confess that he had lied and apologize to everyone. Then they will hold another special meeting just for him so he will finally be saved.
