         <description><![CDATA[<div>What - the lighthouse is Scotland’s centre for design and architecture </div><div><br><br></div><div><br></div><div><br><br></div><div>When </div><div><br></div><div>Charles rennie mackintosh designwed the mitchel street building which is now know as the lighthouse . the building was designed in the year 1895. The former Glasgow herald building was renovated and launched as the lioghthouse . the lighthouse holds various events workshops and exhibitions.</div><div>The Lighthouse in Glasgow is Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture. It was opened as part of Glasgow's status as UK City of Architecture and Design in 1999. The Lighthouse is the renamed conversion of the former offices of the Glasgow Herald newspaper.</div><div><br></div><div>From 1999 until 2009 The Lighthouse was under the management of The Lighthouse Trust. Ownership of The Lighthouse transferred to Glasgow City Council in 2010 and remains an asset of Glasgow City Council today. </div><div><br><br></div><div>Visaurihelix 12 jul 2018 - 02 jan 2019 is one of exhibitions celebrating the 150th anniversary of charles rennie mackintosh birthday. This exhibition is interactive with the creator louise harriswho is a audiovisual artist taking inspiration from the various shapes in mackintosh’s own architecture . in  each section of the staircase there are metal rods that represent piano strings when you hit them it produces sound  </div><div><br><br><br><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>The spiral staircase leads up to a viewing platform and the top of the lighthouse which gives a uninteruptided view of the city of glasgow . </div><div><br><br><br><br></div><div>A journey through the building provides a fascinating insight into the design features and architectural heritage associated with Mackintosh. For inside knowledge into Mackintosh's life, his influence and legacy. </div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>The school was originally founded in 1845 as Glasgow’s government school of design. Glasgow school of art building was built in two phases; 1897-99 &amp; 1907-09, this was due to lack of money, the budget was £14,000.<br></em><br></div><div><em>On 23</em><em><sup>rd</sup></em><em> May 2014 a fire damaged the west wing of the building, including studios, the library and some archival stores.<br></em><br></div><div><em>On june 15</em><em><sup>th</sup></em><em> 2018, another fire erupted in the building. And it will be dismantled.<br><br><br></em><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Willow tearoom</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The willow tearoom; after an extensive restoration project, is Mackintosh’s only surviving tea room. It can be found on Sauchiehall street and it opened on July 2<sup>nd</sup> 2018.<br><br></div><div>It was designed for Kate Cranston in 1903. Mackintosh designed both the interior and the exterior as well as the waitress dresses and also the cutlery. <br><br></div><div>The ‘Room de Luxe’ is one of the most precious interiors. The room today still has the original pair of stained glass doors along with the leaded mirror frieze with purple panelling below. The furniture is silver with high back chairs with nine inserts of purple glass.<br><br></div><div>The gallery on the mezzanine floor overlooking the back salon has a fireplace on the back south wall. The ceiling has open beams allowing the light to flow through. The walls have a painted black trellis pattern with 2 stylish roses.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> <br><br></div><div>The hill house is considered to be Mackintosh’s domestic masterpiece. He created the building, the furniture and the textiles. His creations were very simple and have become icons of the Glasgow Arts &amp; Crafts movement.<br><br></div><div>He was a revolutionary designer, but the materials and the techniques at the cutting edge of architectural design in 1900 haven’t withstood a century of the west of Scotland’s harsh, wet weather conditions.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The art gallery &amp; museum held a special exhibition in recognition of this milestone. <br><br></div><div>The exhibition ran until August 14<sup>th</sup> 2018 and it showcased over 250 works from the city’s collection along with loans from other public institutions (including The Hunterian and the Glasgow School of Art). Spanning the lifetime from 1868-1928, it also considers the work of some key contemporaries, including his future wife Margaret Macdonald.<br><br></div><div>Councillor David McDonald, Glasgow Life chairman and Glasgow City Council depute leader, said: “We are delighted to bring this magnificent exhibition to Kelvingrove to celebrate the incredible legacy and creative genius of Glasgow’s greatest cultural icon.<br><br></div><div>“Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s ground-breaking work is now synonymous with Glasgow and lauded internationally so it is only right we mark the 150th anniversary of his birth with something very special.<br><br></div><div>“This exhibition gives Mackintosh aficionados space and time to enjoy a wealth of stunning objects, a number of which they will never have had the opportunity to see before.<br><br></div><div>“It has given us an opportunity to invest in the conservation and preservation of some fantastic pieces of art and design in our civic collections and share a new presentation of the Glasgow Style story, its influence and its incredible art with a whole new generation.”<br><br></div>]]></description>

All portraits where made by famous Scottish artists, such as; Rachel Maclean and John Byrne. <br><br></div><div><strong>Fourth Mural – ‘Shadow Hand Puppets’<br></strong><br></div><div>· Artist: Rogue – One</div><div>· Where: Cowcaddens Subway Underpass</div><div>· It is the 23<sup>rd</sup> Mural in the trail</div><div>· Was painted here to brighten up the very increasingly dingy, although very well used underpass. </div><div><strong> <br>Artist Research <br></strong><br></div><div><em>James Klinge <br></em><br></div><div>· Graduated Art College, degree in illustration and Print – Making. </div><div>· Glasgow born.</div><div>· He has built a career that has allowed him to work globally. <br><br></div><div> <em>Rogue One<br></em><br></div><div>· Rogue one is a graffiti artist from Glasgow. He has ben mastering the art of spray painting for over 15 years. </div><div>· His work ranges from stencil pieces, characters, 3D, canvases at to large scale products. <br><br><em>Jack Vettriano<br></em><br></div><div>· Born in Fife, 1951, Jack left school at 16 to become a mining engineer. </div><div>· For his 21<sup>st</sup> birthday, a girlfriend gave him a set of water colours and from then on he spent as much of his spare time teaching himself to paint. </div><div>· He has had exhibitions where his work has been on sale. </div><div>· He also contributed to Billy Conolly’s 75<sup>th</sup> birthday present where he painted a mural of him. <br><br></div>]]></description>
