- Outline two important factors when taking the measurement.

Make sure the tape is taught and straight on the client while loose enough to give an accurate (in the sense of true to life) and comfortable measure with enough ease for future alteration.

Furthermore make sure to pay attention to the measures you take (to the decimal place) and that they are in consistent units/dimensions.

- What is the process after striking and cutting a waistcoat for a customer?

Baste fit
- ' The seams will be basted together with a thin basting cotton, the seams will often be lapped as well, meaning they're sewn once along the seamlines and then the inlay is pressed to one side and basted down again, just to give the fragile basting a better chance of surviving the fitting, particularly on seams that will take strain on close fitting garments like waistcoats or body coats. it may not be lined or even fully canvassed at this point as the baste fitting is primarily to assess the fit of the pattern over anything else. pockets, linings and padded canvases will be added at a later stage. however any shrinkage or drawing of the garment will be imitated with bridles or temporary darts for a more true fit.' - N. Colledge

- List the fabrics and trimmings used to perform a baste fit.

Basting thread, garment fabric and calico (in lieu of lining) typically.
