Nowadays in popular music, repetition is basically a hook or chorus. A catchy tune is almost essential to any popular song. You build your song around the chorus. It is what the audience will remember the most. A lot of the time you can put the name of the song in the chorus. Now, the lack of the chord progression can make a chorus very boring. Some artists use their repetition in common music to emphasize a specific idea or thought that the song may be about.

My personal favorite song from Ben Ratliff's "Every Song Ever" has to be "Mrs. Officer" by Lil Wayne Featuring Bobby Valentino. The beat I mean the drums are so simple yet so essential to Wayne's rapping flow. His relaxed vibe that he gives off throughout many of songs is very apparant here as you can see. Their mimic of the police officer sound throughout the song is perfectly timed. This is the good repetition that I like. This track is a personal favorite song of mine that brings back good memories of a younger me.

All in all, repetition is one spoonful of the very big bowl of listening qualities we call music. It can taste sour or it can taste sweet. It can be very hot or very cold. It depends on the creator of the soup.
