When communicating with Turks, it is important to know certain features of social cues. First of all, meetings must be planned in advance, taking into account Ramadan and the main Muslim holiday months - July and August. Most Turks are devout Muslims, so the meeting should take place between prayers.Unlike many other countries in the south, where everything is postponed to "mañana", punctuality is one of the key levers when dealing with Turks. Therefore, being late for a meeting shows great disrespect to them. Dress should be modest and conservative during business meetings, especially for women. A suit is recommended, although a formal, body-hugging dress below the knee is also acceptable. Men dress in a business suit and a tie is required. Greetings and farewells are always marked with a firm handshake with both the woman and the man and maintaining eye contact. First, the hand is shaken with the most senior person or depending on the position the representative of the highest rank. A handshake is often accompanied by a kiss on the cheek. Turks do not need a lot of personal space, so during a conversation they can be closer to the companion than in many European countries. A desire to keep your distance can be interpreted as a sign of disrespect. Turks like to start a meeting with a light conversation. During it first of all you can get to know each other, talk about your culture, it is necessary to inquire about their country, culture or religion. Turks highly value the personal qualities of their business partners and tend to establish warm and friendly relationships. Of course, this does not guarantee business success but having a great business proposal strengthens business relations with Turks.

First things first, we will greet our client with a handshake and a strong eye contact while having the biggest smile on our faces. Second of all, we will discuss our beliefs and purposes of the meeting and most importantly discuss the differences between Lithuania and the USA while including food. Our client will have the oppurtunity to chose something to eat in the middle of the meeting breaks. For example: fruits, coffee, salad, cookies and etc. After the meeting our client will be enterntained with a presentation about our countries culture. And lastly, while greeting the client from the USA, we need to remember the etiquete rules and be polite, while discussing the points of the meeting.
