She transforms into an old woman due to a spell and when she thinks negative things as a result she gets old.
She goes to a magical castle and works as a housewife, despite looking like an old woman is full of energy and charisma.
Howl lives there. The castle moves at Howl's will. Howl doesn't know if he's a monster or a good character, but Sophie trusts him.

Sophie's heart is pure and that is why she deserves Howl's heart. In the end Howl falls in love with Howl and they live very happily traveling the world.
