However, it was clear to the US that they should bomb Nagasaki instead. Their population was significantly bigger and had major military factories, after calculating that the US would gain much more by bombing Nagasaki. The US was sure the answer was clear, they should drop the Fat Man on Nagasaki. The Fat Man was carried on a USAAF B-29 named Bockscar.

Alongside the MG 34, it was used in the last half of World War 2. It was used in many battles such as the battle of Berlin, the battle of Halbe, and the battle of Okinawa. The MG 42 had a massive magazine holding up to 100 rounds, having a very fast reload, and only taking 6 to 10 seconds. They were developed in the late 1930s by Krupp for the express purpose of destroying heavy fortifications, specifically those in the French Maginot Line. Shells and propellant for the gun were delivered by rail and hoisted up to the firing deck. The shell is on the far side, and the case with powder bags is in front of it (to the right) took 20 to 45 minutes to reload the gun and prepare it for firing. And it took a total of three weeks using a workforce of 1,420 men. Fully assembled the weapon was 43 meters long, 7 meters wide with the axis of the barrel a mere 7.5 meters about the track.
