How did you get on with the process of Stop Motion animation designs?

I didn't really struggle with the creation of the characters, I thought that was pretty easy. However I had to rush my set to get it done in time so if I was to re-do the assignment I would try to improve the set so its not so basic. I would do this by making my set out of polystyrene and using paint to create more texture to show more detail. I would also use better lighting to create more of a tense feeling, this would instantly improve the look of my animation.

How did the method and medium you used stand up to the process?

I used a standard stop-motion method where I just simply moved my character in between frames. This didn't really go too well as it left my animation looking really choppy. I could improve on this by using Dragon frame to see what my previous shot was when its overlapped on the current shot. For the characters I used New Plast plasticene which worked alright, if I was to revisit this I would try and make my characters be able to stand up more easily and I would wear latex gloves next time to minimize 'black spots' on the characters.

I would use a better camera and take my time with it if I was to do it again. I would also prefer to use dragon-frame to get more accurate shots. I would also like to take more time in the set and prop creation to make everything better.

I think the audiences received my work well, I was left comments showing the good things and the bad things which I can now use to my advantage if I was to revisit Stop Motion. I did notice that nearly every comment I was left stated that I need to improve on my set and my frame rate, I've spoke about how I can improve my set but if I was to revisit this I would definitely shoot more frames to make the image more smooth.

Kirk Fletcher - Kirk was the first to leave me feed back on my stop-motion animation. He has commented on the fact that my animation is very choppy, I can fix this by taking more frames so my FPS increases, this would create a smoother animation.
Cameron Harrison - Cameron also commented on how choppy the animation was, but he also said that I could improve on my set design which I agree with completely as my est was very bland and simple.
Harvin Dhillion - Harvin also commented on the same points as Cameron and Kirk, I can now see that these problems are really noticeable as everyone is commenting on them.
Aiden Wheat - Aiden also pointed out that my set looked quite dull, he also commented on the 2nd character and how bland it was which I could improve on with just more body detail. Aiden also said that I could maybe use a color correction or an effect to try and make the animation look a little more interesting, I think this is a good idea as its something simple which can quickly improve the look of my animation.

My story boards helped me visualize what I was going to make for the animation. I had an idea and drew it on paper so I wouldn't forget, it helped me a lot as I had something to base my stop-motion on. If I was to revisit this I would definitely put more detail into my storyboards to make them more mesmerising and overall look better.

My artwork wasn't the best overall as I'm not great at drawing but it served its purpose as it let me have a physical copy of the idea I had for the animation. If I was to redo this part I would definitely look at taking photos and drawing around them on Illustrator to create better quality artwork and more original artwork.

In all honesty if I have the choice I wouldn't choose to use this medium again. I am not very good with stop-motion and I would feel comfortable doing something else. However, if I was to try stop-motion again then I would create a better set and use a better camera to get some better shots.

The first constructive criticism to point out is that he needs to improve on the creation of the set. It's too dull for my eyes. The shots looks good in this stop-motion animation. Unlike me, he used the correct materials for his characters. The 2nd character appearance is quite basic so a lot of improvement could be done on the appearance. Maybe a colour correction would make the animation more interesting. Overall, it's quite a good animation.
