I really identify with what Amy Lowell had said based on poetry. Poetry can give insight into the human condition, and a glimpse into the life of someone else. We as humans need this connection with ourselves and others to better our selves and our relationships

Whether what we read or watch is poetry or not, they can all tie back to the same idea. It's not just entertainment, it can bring more purpose and meaning to our lives, and help us figure out who we want to be as people.

These two poems give readers a glimpse into the eyes of young children and what they think of their very different fathers. The child in 'My Papa's Waltz' loves playing with his drunken father and doesn't understand what he does is a problem. Meanwhile the father in 'Those Winter Sundays' toils endlessly to help his family, and is seemingly unappreciated by his child. Both children don't understand what their fathers do and do not do for them.

While writing in general can be applied to Amy Lowell's stance on poetry, it's easy to extend it to other works in the world. As Amy had applied her stance to sports, I apply it to other forms of entertainment such as games and movies. Most of them are stories put to a visual media. They give people a new way to identify with characters and situations. I feel visual media can be as important as literature. Not every movie or game is enlightening, but neither is every work of literature. It gives people who many have difficulty reading a chance to identify with others just as much as literature.
