Rottenrow gardens - shoot location

I had wanted the location for the shoot to fit the apocalyptic setting like the scene and series the monologue is from. Originally i had thought of doing it in an alley way that i had filmed in a few years ago that fit the vibe perfectly, but after thinking about the distance of traveling with kit and the possible weather conditions i needed to find somewhere still outside but in a closer location. It was very difficult and had spent days thinking of where i could film before i settled on the old hospital arches at Rottenrow gardens. The location turned out to be exactly the setting i was hoping to create for this monologue.

I put my actors chosen Monologue in a script format which made it much easier to communicate and discuss the actions for the lines and how she would want to perform them on the day. This aloud me to make up an accurate shot list and storyboard because i knew what action was going to be paired with which areas of dialogue on the day and that made me and my actor feel ready and prepared on the filming day.

I have seen this show and scene before but it has been many years. I was not blind going into this monologue because i knew the characters and storylines going into this and how the scene should feel. I wanted to capture the emotion and struggle between these two complex characters and this monumental scene. I discussed with Kate (my actor) how similar did she want this to be to the original and she told me to do what ever i thought. So i had watched this many times in preparation to filming and organising the look of the shoot.
