The bear put is tail in the freezing below 0 pond for quite a while, which resulted in his tail freezing, which also resulted into being stuck in the pond. Then he remembers that the fox said "when It's time to take your tail out the water pull hard." The bear pulled hard on his tail and then it ripped. One half frozen the other small half left on him.
