I learned about a new binder system that keeps student notes and homework organized and it was phenomenal this past school year! Worked especially well for students who were absent too!

I found a way to help students learn responsibility of their supplies! I was having tons of issues with supplies being destroyed and misused so finding this system has helped a ton.

I'm often traveling to speech and debate tournaments and there's often a hospitality room where judges and coaches can get food but also meet each other and interact. I've met a lot of cool people and it's a small world so we end up seeing each other like every other weekend!

Completely coincidental, Stacie and I were both at our District's History Day Fair and a co-worker introduced us. We both stumbled upon the fact that we were looking into graduate classes and kept in touch whenever we had questions and found new information. Great indicator of the community to come!

During my GYTO experience, I've been able to connect with a few of the people I follow. This year, I had the opportunity to connect personally with LaNesha Tabb (Teaching with Apron Strings) and share ideas.

Met with US History teachers across the state at Lead4ward and across the region from the ESC2/ Texas LRE seminary. I had the chance to collaborate and get assurance that I was on the right track with how I was teaching the USH TEKS.

I attended a state-wide PD that was hosted by Port Aransas ISD, where English teachers got to collaborate and share strategies, challenges, resources, etc. I got to be a presenter on behalf of my district.

At Seguin ISD, we are doing Matador University this year where they are inviting teachers who are specialized in a content area or program to teach other teachers who want to learn more!

Edcamps

Our district C&I and tech department get together and create an EdCamp every year for use to learn from each other and others. The invite is usually open to people from nearby districts too.

AP Resources

There is a council of AP teachers in these Facebook groups that date back to the 1700s. You have to get an invitation, pass an interview, and make a pack, but after that, you're in! The amount of resources is unreal. Not sure I can talk about it but it's great.

I don't specifically follow any groups, but I saw a video of a teacher who made a "waiting room" with numbers and students can grab a number when they need help... So then, they don't just sit with their hand up and they don't interrupt when you're helping someone else and then they know when they're next!

Some of my best networking has happened outside of the school and conference setting. I was out for lunch after a few training sessions, and bumped into a few teachers that were at another training that had nothing to do with mine, but we were able to connect on how our trainings were going and what we were learning.

I signed up to get free posters from the Gilder Lehrman Institute for a social media giveaway back in December, now I'm going to the Gilder Lehrman Seminar on the Vietnam War in Austin in two weeks to meet with teachers across the country
