I think implementing an IXL game to the end of our class times would help increase student engagement. IXL has a ton of fun games for math and language arts. They are quick and interactive. Towards the end of class time some students are not as engaged because they have been sitting for a while. It would be nice to have a little review game to draw them back into the lesson.

I believe that IXL is a great resource that can be used in the Class Time or DBA setting. Students can take part of a group jam if the have access or the teacher can share the question for the selected skill right on screen. It gives immediate feedback and helps to encourage students to not only participate in class, but to gain access to IXL and use outside of the class time for ongoing learning and skill development. It can be used at the teacher's discretion as well on if it is a quick check, warm up, or part of the actual lesson. -Jen Casteel

I agree with the IXL because it is a great way for student to continue learning and is standards based. They can continue to use it outside of class which is a benefit for them because they can still learn. I also think Nearpod is a great interactive tool. Are we still allowed to use this?! What is great about nearpod is that the students can all be working on the same activity and it gives the teacher the ability to see their answers without the other students seeing them. It's a great way to have all of the students working on the same topic. There are even a few games that the students can play which they get excited about. ~Jessie Pritts

Nearpod/Flipgrid/Game sites

I love Nearpod and currently use it with my Tuesday small groups. It allows use of a variety of interactive activities and I'm able to see who needs helps or is struggling in real time.

Flipgrid-Students make a quick video. Teacher can allow sharing between students or keep private. Could be used as a check during a lesson or at the end for an exit check on a skill.

Just another idea was to incorporate some of the "learning game" sites like abcya, splashlearn, coolkindergarten, starfall, within lessons.

I too agree, but wonder about Nearpod and if all teachers are able to use. It was such a great tool to allow ALL students to interact and answer the questions. Tools seemed easier for them to use as well versus trying the ones on zoom. My favorite feature of the IXL, is the immediate feedback teachers get for the certain skill worked on in the live CT. That way if they are struggling, you can reinforce with more sources to give them to practice or assign them right there in IXL.
