He lived a long time ago. He was born in 1853 in a small town in the Netherlands. As a boy, he loved to draw. He used pencils and paints.


When Van Gogh grew up, he worked as an artist. He painted pictures of people, flowers, and fields. His favorite color was yellow. He made bright and beautiful paintings.


Life was not easy for Van Gogh. He felt sad many times. He lived alone and wrote letters to his brother, Theo. Theo helped him a lot.


Van Gogh painted every day. He finished over 900 paintings. People did not buy his art when he was alive. He sold only one painting.


Now, Van Gogh’s paintings are famous. People visit museums to see them. Van Gogh’s art makes the world happy.
