Typical Style of Eggleston

This picture is a great example of what Eggleston's pictures are about. This picture of complementary colors in a typical sidewalk could easily evoke a response of nostalgia to someone who walks or used to walk on a path like this while going somewhere they went a lot, like a friend's house or school.

Eggleston was a revolutionary to many back in the 20th century and continues to be an influence to people in modern times. His photographic style was to get pictures of things that had no political or controversial relevancy, usually taking pictures of things he thought people would enjoy looking at. Of course his pictures aren't that shallow, most of the time he would try to have something in the picture that would evoke an emotional response like nostalgia.

Timothy O'Sullivan

Timothy O’Sullivan is the most well known Civil War photographer of all time. He was born in 1840 in either New York, New York or in Ireland, but there's little to no documentation of where his origins are. He died on January 14th, 1882 in Staten Island, New York. Since he was alive during the 19th century they didn't have any advanced cameras of today, so he had to use a wet glass technique just to take a single picture which would take an entire day of preparation to take one picture. He had a great eye for pictures which shows in his fantastic pictures of battlefields and the surroundings of where the troops had to venture through.

The Harvest of Death

"The Harvest of Death" is easily O'Sullivan's most famous photograph. It uses techniques like having a horizon and a focal point in the middle of the picture to give the sense of wander and grief, which really fits the topic of the photo since it's showing the dead bodies of many soldiers.

Walter Iooss is one of the, if not the most famous sports photographer in the industry. He takes pictures for magazines and advertisements which is why all of his pictures look like they would be on a cover of one. The style of his pictures fit perfectly with the magazine style and do what they're meant to do, advertise. His pictures make you want to buy the magazines they're on and read more into them, and possibly making you want to buy more of them. He's been taking pictures for sports magazines since he was 17 and now he's 73. There's a reason why he's been working for so long, and that's because he does the job right.
