Looking through the campaign website, I have explored and understood what the campaign is about and who their target audience is. It is aimed at females and non binary students to achieve the help they need to progress in their chosen career path. I like how the Layout page looked friendly as well as welcoming, motivated and connected by adding small logos such as love heart for connecting and thunder for ideas and moving forward with a plan. I also liked how they used a traditional pink and blue theme which worked well to represent the female and non binary. The reviews of experiences and how they got to where they're at with the help of the campaign. There are a few things i would make changes to on the website which is to the font color to green which is a more neutral color. Reading the article, I have gathered that its target audience is aimed at everyone who's into fashion but specifically for those with disabilities. Analysing the article, I felt that it was an exceptional topic to have been brought up. As its been mentioned in the article, having a career in modelling meant that you would have to be young, thin, preferably blonde and pale skinned which most of us disagree. I believe that people with disabilities should get a chance in any career path, so for Ellie Goldstien to model for the biggest brand has opened many doors for people like her. Reading through this article, I have gathered that it’s based on racial abuse. Racial discrimination comes in different ways, whether it’s to do with bullying, city, area and in this case sports. Reading through the statements that have been made towards the player is very despairing, considerably due to the fact that it’s from his own football club. One of the disadvantages about watching football matches live is serving alcohol. Being intoxicated can lead you to do inappropriate things which in this case, racially abuse a player. They produce hoodies, t shirts, posters and so fourth to help get the message across the country. I like the layout of the website and how straight forward it is to navigate around the website. There are a few things that i would make changes to on the website which one of them is the navy blue banner. What was really interesting to me was the style of her work and the thought process that she went through to create exceptional outcomes. I was really amazed on her style of work when she showed her Arabic designs especially as my main language is Arabic, I felt that I have gained inspiration from this to one day design similar stuff. The one disadvantage that I have would be not asking her questions which would have helped me in the world of typography. I also liked her latin writing and how she thoroughly explained herself how she got to this outcome.

Overall, I really enjoyed taking part in this session as I have learned alot from taking in her experiences and how she got to where she's at. I consider this as an inspirational lesson and will act upon my notes that I have jotted down and use this in the future.

He works as a printer at one of the last commercially operating letterpress shops in the country and is mainly focused on letterpress. He has shown us a range of work he has produced based on letterpress and has taked us through his thoughts and process throughout his design outcomes. This was interesting to me as I have less knowledge on this and learning the step he took and the knowledge he has shown, has also helped expand my knowledge. I was intrigued when Robert was talking through the differences between what is typography, lettering and writing. I liked how he has shown us an example of handwriting of British designer Alan Fletcher and how he had distinctive had writing. Visualising the historic hand lettering within illustrative practice that's shown as commercial advertisements is a lesson to learn in the world of design as it has expanded my knowledge and made me pay close attention to detail.

What I can take away from this is the understanding behind lettering, typography and writing. I believe that this would help me further my development and experiment with knowledge and implement this to my project 1. To help better my understanding further, I will research other designers within this field and see the different styles and how they work.

Both studios have similar vision and decided to add a twist by working together and create designs to make it look friendly and interesting to existing logos. Koto’s aim was to look into and explore Animade’s vision and try to make their designs a bit more characterful, but it led them back into the idea of using their existing logo as a set of eyes. 

What's interesting to me about this, is the way Koto looked at things and see how they can visualise and create a successful path. I like how they explained that the human eye are able to communicate the most emotion and its more nuanced than any other feature, which is why it gave Koto an opportunity to inject character into designs.

She has been a partner in the New York office of Pentagram since 1991. Paula decided to create a campaign for mental health awareness week which her aim was to spread and raise awareness to the people on mental health issues. She expressed this through her design skills by making the typography tall and bold all in capital letters which is something you wouldn't expect from a mental health website. What's interesting to me is how Pentagram worked closely with Cole to develop the tone of voice used in language across organisations to promote a cultural shift in how mental health is spoken about. What I can take inspiration from is how they focused on the digital platform ‘how are you really?’ where members of the public are invited to share their experiences alongside celebrities. I believe that this is an important facet as it really asks you to explain your emotions rather than just saying ‘how are you’. This creates not only a conversation but a connection.

What I can learn from this article is how graphic designer Paula looked into attracting people's attention to this important subject by analysing the typography of size, weight, layout, style and colour. This is inspirational to me as I plan on going down the same route for my current project and look deeply into typography and how I can express it in that manner.

When looking at the new logo design that Interbrand have created, you can see the big change. It went from having a detailed illustration of a globe on a crown of leaves with a gradated colour word marque, to a more simply flat graphic icon and a new typeface style. The design also contains an icon that re-imagines the ubiquitous peace symbol with a slice removed. What I can take from this is the simplicity of the design and how effective the message comes across. What I like about this new design is not only the simplicity of it, but the message behind the design. Interbrand has stated that the removed slice represents the charity’s message that ‘change can start small, with us as individuals, one piece at a time’. This is a powerful statement as it represents the non profit organisation’s massage and what it's trying to achieve. I can also take into consideration on the use of colour palette they used to re-brand the logo. The colour consists of blue which represents symbolizing serenity and trust. Where as the secondary pastel colors represents openness and energy. What I can learn from this is the thought of simpleness and how effective it can be. The different case studies that I have looked into is on migrant crisis, world hunger, racial abuse and knife crime. I took part in the digital drawing sessions as I believed that this would be a key improvement to brush up my skills on Illustrator and Photoshop. The lecturer Jao has helped increase my skill on certain elements that I can use for my upcoming designs for this project. An example of this would be the weight size of different brush strokes and applying different background textures. 

Overall, I have benefited a lot by participating with the MAKE.morning session as it will help perfect my work when it comes to the process of designing. If these lesson was to arose again, I would make sure that I ask questions on my weak points and try to perfect it in the process and also take part on the other MAKE.morning sessions to experiment more and expand my skill set.

My new logo idea that I have decided to move forward with consists of a human brain and a fingerprint. The reason for this its because I tried to express my manifesto through my logo and thought it suited well with the brain and fingerprint. I really liked this idea so I went onto experimenting with different background colours as well as the logo colour to get the look that I am satisfied with. The one advantage about this process was selecting the right colour to represent my logo as there were many colours that suited my logo. My next process was to experiment with my manifesto text to see the different possible positions that would suit well with my logo. The case study that I have chosen to express is on racial equality as I can relate to this and feel like I can expand my thoughts and ideas creating this campaign. Completing this project, I feel that I am satisfied with the design outcomes. I like the idea of the arm illustration and how I have managed to input my manifesto on it to express my campaign. I believe that the yellow background goes well with the illustration as it gives it an extra enhancement. As for the other poster with the same illustration, my aim was to have the arm on its own to send a message across that when alone, you are still strong and nothing can stop who you are and what you represent. I have decided to put the background colour light blue as I didn't want an aggression vibe but rather a peaceful look. For my final poster design I wanted it to have a different design outcome but in the same context, so I have decided to create illustrations of protesters from different race. I am happy with this outcome as I feel like it sends a strong message about racial equality. What I could have done differently about the poster is to add both genders rather than just one and add more detail to the characters to create liveliness to it. Another thing that I would change about this poster is the background colour, I like how the pastel green creates smoothness to the poster but not sure if its the correct colour to express my message. I believe that the logo that I have created goes well with my manifesto but would I would want to experiment more on selecting the right colours. To perfect my outcome, I would want to print out my final posters and try to find a suitable location to take photographs, but due to financial issues I wasn't able to.

Overall, I have really enjoyed this project as its something that I can relate and to be able to express this through visual communication was an experience. If this project arose again, I would change a lot of things to my designs and experiment more on my colour palette choice for my posters as well as my logo.

Within this process, we also had to think about negative spaces and colors that would suit best. This was a very interesting process for me because it has helped me think broader about my topic and what styles /materials I can possibly use during this project. The one disadvantage that I had was the photocopy not printing out my sketches properly so it was difficult for my to work on. It was difficult for me at first as I didn't know which topic to choose from and how to answer properly, but I have tried my best to complete this task. I have decided to further my research on an article based on racial abuse and answer the questions on the sheet. The advantages about the worksheet is that it has helped me understand the process of how to properly research articles and what to specifically think about. The aim for this session is to help us look at various articles that interest us and to explore broadly. I found this task very interesting and helpful as it has helped me discover a bunch of articles sites that I never knew existed. I really liked the idea of exploring broadly to see other articles, themes and projects that are on the sites. This was a key session for me as it will help me kick start my research phase.
