Best teacher- one of my postgrad lecturers. Why? He was very knowledgeable, very good at communication with his students and applied all the theories he taught us in class to everyday life examples and gave scenarios of solving issues between a couple using theories. That's why I can still remember all his classes after 9 years. His course was service management (that's why he could show us the application to life, not applicable to all courses).

She went an extra mile of being a "Mother" to all of us. I might have forgotten most of the rhymes and poems she taught me, but she really made going to school fun. One other amazing teacher I had was a Mineral Processing lecturer, he always presented the principles associated with Metallurgy and he always motivated us always to study hard.

Something we do all the time now but in the1970's it inspired me to teach and just find out what the answer really is .. often from my students.

My best teacher academically was in my UG program. She presented very balanced workshops by combining theory with clinical practice examples. But it was her passion for the profession, and the way she stood up for it, that inspired me (and the way I aim to teach) the most.
I would have to say though that the best teacher I have ever had was in sports. Being a technical sport, he never just explained verbally what was done well and what could be improved - he physically demonstrated the issues and changes required, whilst explaining them simultaneously, and would segment the feedback to give time to process.

The best teachers I can remember are the people who had recently learnt the material themselves. My friend who had only just passed his driver's test was the person who best explained to me how to use the clutch when driving a manual car. While studying for my engineering degree, very little learning occurred in the classroom: the learning really happened when the students taught each other how to solve tutorial problems after they themselves had just had a light-bulb moment.
Why were these people the best teachers? They still felt the pain from struggling to beat the complex concepts, and their insights on breaking through were so fresh that they could be articulated with the clarity that struggling learners needed.
I feel after I have understood complex concepts for a long time that my view of the knowledge naturally shifts away from "how did I learn this?" towards "where can I use this?" If I need to teach something, I have to work hard to keep the insights from slipping away.

The best teacher I had and will never forget was my postgrad supervisor. He is extremely knowledgeable and very good at communicating his ideas. He also has a personal touch to his students. As a student I felt that he genuinely cared not only about my studies but also about my wellbeing ... and that I believe is one of the best qualities of a good teacher.

The best teacher I ever had was my Grade 5 primary school teacher.
She encouraged me to be the best that I could be. She was knowledgeable, kind hearted, empathetic, focused and disciplined. She inspired me to test my boundaries. Her genuine caring and support made my learning experience both enjoyable and rewarding.
Given that my home life (at the time was extremely difficult) her class became a home away from home for me.
She created a thirst for knowledge within me that has remained until this day. This is why I regard her as my best teacher.

The best teacher(s) I had were in the final year of high school (one in Maths, the other English). I thought I was doing OK, but they both (separately) challenged me that I really wasn't up to scratch. I pulled my socks up, and both aspects have since become important parts of my research ever since.
