The Middle East is a huge supplier of oil to developed countries around the world but more specifically The United States. With all the fighting going on it is making it increasing harder and unsafe for them to produce oil. While the people fighting in the war say they aren’t fighting over oil, in the end they are. Producing and selling oil is a main export for countries like Iran and Syria. If they can get their hands on more oil, or take out some competition it will give their country more profit. Iraq has increased their oil productions by 40% in the year 2013. Because Iraq exports about 80% of their oil, they do not have the proper amount of energy for their people. Cnn states that about 25% of their people live in poverty. To put this in perspective, in 2014 about 11% of Americans lived in poverty. 
The wars in the Middle East are affecting America because we have decided to join the war to help stop it. The website Global Finance School states that The United States has spent over 2.2 trillion dollars on this war. That is about 15% of this country’s national debt. While there are many more issues in the Middle East most of them have to do with countries trying to take over others or trying to become rich. Cities are being destroyed and lives are being taken because of these crazy people.
