My verse will be that I am the man who was known as a true individualist... one who is highly respected but holds little respect for the establishment. I will be known as the person who fought for what he thought was right and took nothing less than change or being proved wrong. I aspire to be a sensitive, caring person; yet tough, and sensible in order to be a good listener as well as a good learner. In a sense, I aspire to care for my work, yet stand behind it and take criticism lightly, but still learn from them instead of becoming depressed. In this case, I wish to celebrate myself as opposed to comparing myself to people around me and seeing another person’s success as not threatening towards me. This way, I can focus more on helping myself versus beating myself up emotionally; be sensible and tough. This way, I can pave a progressive path forward in life and leave a lasting legacy when I pass with having lived a life of achievement, whatever those achievements may be.

The tenets of transcendentalism express abstractions in order to reflect on primarily human existence/society, such as the rejection of tradition, social reform, or nature’s relationship to one’s existence. These tenets contribute to one of the primary goals of transcendentalism: to allow one to express and define themselves as an individual. In modern day life however, living out tenets of transcendentalism incorporates many challenges. These challenges can take the form of personal conflict, success in society, and the moral impact of the actions a transcendentalist can have.
