May focus on the problems stages of coaching – instead of solution focussed approaches.</div><div>3.&nbsp; May be distrustful of the coach's intentions. Need for power - calculating, highly competitive and poor losers<br>3. Lacks remorse - no regard for the truth, repeatedly lie, use aliases or con others for personal gain/pleasure. Guilt is seldom experienced</strong><br><strong>4. Inflated self-appraisal - believe they are always right which absolves them from questioning their actions.<br></strong><br><strong><mark>Key coaching implications: </mark></strong><strong><br>1. Likely to mistrust others therefore unlikely to seek advice or guidance of others and dismiss unsolicited counsel from others as irrelevant to them.<br>2. Lack motivation to change as they don't think there's anything wrong with the way they behave - need to gain their trust, agree with their perceived commitment, and emphasise personal gain/power, challenge, risk and winning.&nbsp; <br>3. Counter-transference should be monitored to ensure coach maintains perspective.<br>4, No empirically-supported treatments treatments so essential to identify and respond to co-existing issues, e.g. addiction, ADHD, depression.<br><br></strong><strong><mark>Similarities with the following Personality Styles/Disorders:</mark></strong><mark>&nbsp;<br>Narcissistic personality disorder - but pure narcissist is unlikely to be aggressive, impulsive, or deceitful.</mark></div>]]></description>

Histrionic PD less likely to be dismissive of others as they have more empathy (generally) than those with NPD.&nbsp;<br><br>Dependent PD - both have high levels of dependency. DPD generally has more awareness/insight that underlying dependency affects beh whilst HPD has little insight about this. </div>]]></description>
