This painting by Monet is a very interesting impressionist piece. The painting gives of a warm feel by using variety or orange hues even, even painting the distant island tower a dark brown orange. The style of the panting allows the blues and the oranges to mix well with each other given that they're complementary colors.

In this Monet, red is a complementary color for green, so the red roses pop against the green bush. The cool colors of the sky and grass give the painting a calm feeling. Most of the roses have warm colors that contrast against the cool colors of the bush, grass, and sky. The color theory in this piece draws your eyes directly to the rose bush.

This painting is "The Boulevard Monmartre at Night" by Camille Pissarro. I like this painting because of how the warm yellow/oranges pop from the buildings and lights. The end of the street on the horizon is a darker navy that pushes the sky back. You can see where the streetlights do and do not cast light by the black or gray of the road.

The foliage around the pond has varying shades of green, but it all stays in the background, tying the painting together rather than demanding the spectator's attention. The eyes are immediately drawn to the forefront of the picture by a set of dazzlingly pink flowers. This creates a stark contrast with the tranquil scene behind it. The other splashes of color on the horizon causes the gaze of the spectator to move outward in a radiating fashion

The background behind the lunch party is filled with more greens and blues which is a cool color that is supposed to make you feel more calm possibly to highlight that it is a relaxing event. The women all seem to be wearing blue as well. The two distinct hats are colored yellow and then there are the black top hats which contrast with one another. The men with the yellow hats and have the white shirts seem to be more rural, whereas the women with the yellow hats seem to be fancier.

The use of color here is important to draw the eye around the painting and sets the town farther into the background. At first your eyes are drawn to the warm reds, oranges, and yellows in the foreground and then shift to the thick green of the tree to the right. From there your eye follows the tree up to the sky which takes up a lot of the sky and utilizes a lot of blue but also some yellow to the left to give more warmth. This shows the importance in impressionism of the sky and of color. Now that your eye has been drawn around the painting you are brought in to the middle to the small town sunk into the center of the painting. One of the important things Monet does here is his use of complimentary colors to distinguish the sides from the orange and blue against each other on the top and bottom or the green and red on the left and right.
