Human and Jiins are created as a servant towards Allah The Almighty. وَ ما خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَ الإِْنْسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ
“I did not create the jinn and humans except that they may worship Me.”

Ibadah : To serve, to submit and to be his servant

Ibadah are divided into two

1. Ibadah Khassah: Ibadah that Allah has set the rules and regulations and need to be followed because it is obligatory

2. Ibadah Ammah: Ibadah includes all the positive and good activities of an individual.

Khushu : Calmness, focus, humbleness and to be submissive, doing prayer wholeheartedly to Allah SWT.

Khushu is important because khushu in the salah is the key to success, and to make sure our salah is accepted by Allah, fully understand the meaning and purpose of salah.

How to gain khushu :
1. Before salah
  • We have to know who we want to worship. Get to know God first
  • Avoid committing small/big sins before prayer
  • Read the Quran a lot
  • Avoid excessive laughter
  • Stop working during azan. Leave what we do. Focus on listening to the call to it. Answer the azan and read the dua after azan.
  • Wudhu properly
  • Go to mosque early

2. During salah
  • Praying in jamaa’ah 
  • Pray like this are our last prayers
  • Read istiazah before recite surah
  • Beautify recitation
  • Understand the meaning behind every kalimah we recite

3. After salah
  • Wirid, zikr and istighfar
  • Thankful to Allah

يا أيُّها الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيامُ كَما كُتِبَ عَلى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
“…Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may attain taqwa (piety and mindfulness of Allah).” (2:183)

Taqwa is to protect yourself from the punishment of Allah by avoiding His prohibitions and implementing His commands.

When we fast, we temporarily make haram on ourselves what is usually halal (eating, drinking etc). This teaches us to say ‘NO!’ to our nafs and inner desires. This helps our taqwa to grow, making it easier to restrain ourselves from haram throughout the year.
