Zippo lighter trick p. 121 (After Sam showed me a Zippo lighter trick, I asked her more about Mary Elizabeth) = zippo is a type of lighter

ribbon p. 74 (She lifted off the pillowcase, and there I was, standing in my old suit, looking at an old typewriter with a fresh ribbon) = a narrow piece of material, used to tie things or for decoration

distinctly p. 59 (the one part I remember distinctly, was walking around the neighbourhood at night) = in a way that is easily or clearly heard, seen, felt, etc.

slacks p. 58 (Not even when I was in the dressing room trying on slacks) = trousers that are not part of a suit

Twinkies p. 53 (I love Twinkies, and the reason I am saying that is because we are all supposed to think of reasons to live.) = a sponge cake

thus p. 144 (The only advice Bill gave me was to think about the main character in terms of the other main characters in the books I've read thus far.)= in this way; like this

corpulent p. 16 (He also said that I should use the vocabulary words that I learn in class like "corpulent" and "jaundice") = fat. People say ‘corpulent’ to avoid saying ‘fat’.

jaundice p. 16 (He also said that I should use the vocabulary words that I learn in class like "corpulent" and "jaundice")= a medical condition in which the skin and the white parts of the eyes become yellow, caused by disease of the liver or blood

salvage p. 145 (After the silence, Patrick did his best to salvage the evening) = the act of saving things that have been, or are likely to be, damaged or lost, especially in a disaster or an accident

eerie (it's kind of eerie when the room gets quiet at once and the real noise starts) = strange, mysterious and frightening

inspirational quote

“That was the poem I read for patrick. Nobody knew who wrote it, but Bob said he heard it before, and he said that it was some kid´s suicide note. I really hope it wasn´t because then I don´t know if I like the ending.”

While reading those three sentences , I became very calm. My surrounding got quiet and I had goosebumps all over my body. Before this quote, there is a poem. It really moved me. But those words after, gave it an even deeper meaning.

“A beautiful song called “Landside”. When we got out of the tunnel, Sam screamed this really fun scream, and there it was. Downtown. Lights on buildings and everything that makes you wonder. Sam sat down and started laughing. Patrick started laughing. I started laughing. And in that moment we were infinete.”

He seemed so free. Finally. He tells about his life and there is always something concerned and sad in between the lines. He always overthinks and remembers moments not as his own, but someone elses. This moment was the first one, where I had the feeling, he finally felt unconditional happiness. And it was HIS moment. Not Sam’s, not Patrick’s - his.
