She’s has known me ever since I was born. At the age of 13, she was diagnosed with leukemia and did not have much time to live. I was very young when she was sick and I was really confused with what was happening to her. All I remember was saying bye to her each time she had to go to the hospital and me crying when she left. After years and years of her suffering, she finally battled this horrible disease, cancer. Throughout this all, she was only a teenager. Kenna inspires me to stay strong and never give up. Also, to live my life to fullest. Today, she’s 24 and is finally completing the school she missed when she was sick. These qualities encompass the true meaning of a friend. Being a true friend means that they should be able to trust each other with anything and trust that they’re telling the truth. Also, caring for each other and helping each make the right decisions in life. In this quote, it’s explaining that physical things could be taken away, but things mentally received can’t. In other words, it’s saying that earthly possessions like clothes and electronics could easily be taken away, but things learned like education or life lessons could not be taken away. For example, learning from a mistake. That lesson will stay with you for the rest of your life and cannot be physically taken away because it’s in your brain. On the other hand, shoes you bought from the store, could easily be taken away.

I feel that this quote develops the idea of having courage and maintaining knowledge. In life, people learn most from what they receive, but in order to learn, they need to be smart. For example, us students receive education and we use that to further learn more. It all starts with one thing, like in this quote, a book. People won’t become smart just by having a book, but by putting their effort and determination in learning from it.
