Speaking Singlish is also a form of recognition to tell others that you are Singaporean. For example, if you were to communicate with any of the elderly people in Singapore, most of them would respond to you in Hokkien and Singlish. This is an example of being a Singaporean. Singlish is unique to Singapore and only Singaporeans understand it [GOOD!]. Therefore, this is 1 way that makes me feel Singaporean.

- Royce Chng (34)

Singapore has a wide variety of food such as korean food, chinese food, japanese food, malay food, indian food and many others. However, what makes us unique from others is that we combine different ethnic group's food together into one. An example of the many different foods are Fish Head Curry which was created with a combination of chinese and malay. Thus, I feel that what makes us Singaporean is the amazing foods in Singapore! [Miss Teo : Yes, Singapore has a wide variety of food but so does the United States of America, how is this variety of food representative of Singaporeans??

Edusave is for Singaporean Ministry-Of-Education (MOE) funded school. It provides resources for school enrichment activities and to encourage students to excel in their academic. For example, in any school events like camping in school, students will need to pay a huge amount. Students will receive a letter from MOE to inform us that they will pay about half of the total amount from our edusave account so that we will pay lesser in cash. Singapore can relate to edusave as it is unique to Singapore as it applies to all Singapore Citizen students studying in an MOE funded school. This makes me feel a sense of belonging in Singapore.
-Wahyuni (10)

Being a Singapore

Being a Singaporean doesn't mean that we should be proud of being it. It depends on what you believe, what you are doing to make Singapore proud and it also depends on your family financial status and your lifestyle. Most of us might not be financially stable for what it is plan when Donald Trump has been elected as a president of United States and the plans that the Singapore government is trying to make Singapore great again. We need to build a wall to stop foreigners from stealing our jobs, our education, an increased number of terrorist coming to Singapore to do crimes and the need of rising all prices of all products in each company , food stores ,grocery stores and provision shops that makes almost every Singaporeans think that it is too expensive to buy them. Do you know that 70%-80% of our local people voted for People's Action Party(PAP)? This shows that we are afraid of changes and makes us looked so proud that people thought that we are being dogmatic, mindless, selfish and low in intelligence. The reason is that we are forced to think the same way as the other people citizens of Singapore. The usage of using Singlish in Singapore is way higher than any other countries but seriously, who does that in other country? Only Singaporeans does that right? I have not travel to overseas before(except Malaysia) and their standards are higher than our education, jobs that locals want to work and their property is so different from us. Why is it so? The government gave the jobs mostly all to foreigners. Firstly, their exchange rate is higher. Meaning: Filipinos working in Singapore and earned a salary of $170 in a week, find the amount of money they earned in a year? Exchange the amount of money that they earned multiply by $1000?Secondly, they cost lower than Singaporeans in terms of hiring them. For example, foreigners cost $10 while Singaporeans cost $100. Who do you want to hire? It's obviously the foreigners, right?Thirdly, most of us are contracted workers. Meaning: we are officially unemployed in Singapore because after that very limited lifespan of a young child(at most 2 to 3 years old), we are going to die(leave the company after to 2 to 3 years of working)after that contract has wear off and we are going to be so worried that we even have a secured future and we can't even support our own family using our own salary. If your contract is finished, renew it or let it go. Our certificate also no use because they only depend on your performance in that company you are working in. You can lie all the way through the interview like no people's business in order to get into the job that you wanted. After that interview, you can do whatever you want to the certificate. Pink IC and a red passport does "not" make you an official citizen of Singapore, it only states that you are a citizen of Singapore. When you are out of your country, you can do whatever you like except that you can't throw away your passport. National Service[NS] is for men who are unfit to go for a war and need assistance from a scholar of physical fitness(for those who are more fit than the ones who are unfit)to build up their strength in order to prepare them for a war and learn new skills for the future. Being a NS men doesn't mean that you should be proud of being a Singaporean, although you are representing you own corrupted country to defend when this so-called First Class Country is on war of World War 1 and 2. The money in the Edusave fund is very difficult to get. In order to get that small amount of money ($150 to $500) doesn't we need to work hard to get that piece of tissue paper. Why didn't the government distribute their money evenly to all the poor local people in Singapore? Why the government didn't say how much they have in their pocket? They didn't say a single piece of cow dung. They, themselves have been sucking all our damn bloody hard-earn money from the officially unemployed employees in Singapore in order to feed themselves. They had been doing this piece of dog smelly flies all over the past of more than 100 years. Being kiasu in singapore is a knob head and spoiled. The kiasu Singaporeans are so impatient with other people that they are labelled as a fool that is blind. Us, Singaporeans , only monkey see monkey do and by saying that we are also blind following the blind. 70% to 80% of the Singaporeans are blinded by Lee Hsien Loong's legacy and Singaporeans does not have our own way of thinking. The meaning of kiasu is 1) a grasping, selfish attitude 2) (of a person) very anxious not to miss an opportunity, grasping. 3) from Chinese "Scared to lose". This word have been used in a wrong way by saying a person in other country and it is considered rude to other people. Only Singaporeans have this kiasu trait in them so that they can attract all the attention that like. The food in Singapore is the most detrimental, unhealthy, tasteless with a decaying of the corpse and an oxygenated smell of a plate of food because the company, the workers and the consumers put in a lot of chemical which is unhealthy for our body and they did not put on a mask, shower cap and gloves in order to keep the food from getting any saliva into the food. The people working are always talking non-stop and their saliva keep spitting out and their hair keeps flying all around. Who wants to eat food with their own stuff being put inside the plate and bowl. Chopping the table with a tissue or any valuables being place on it does not mean that you are sitting at that place. Many Singaporeans have a misconception of placing the tissue or other things and valuables on it means that the table is their to sit on and to eat their food. Foreigners may think that no one is sitting at that table, therefore, the "owner" of that table came back and the pointless argument started. A pickpocket may also steal your valuables and even take the tissue away and claim that the table is his or hers and because of that you lose all of your money. Singaporeans are not kind and compassionate. They are fools that does what they are in advantage and they make use of the people to take advantage like Doctor Lam Pin Ming which is one of the fool in Members of Parliament. Attending the National Day Parade in order to learn about the Singapore history makes no sense because this government have been destroying all the historical places so that the future generation will only know the fake history of it and it is proved that this government is corrupted. National Education is only for fools that want to know about this fake Singapore that has a very low intelligence thinking that other countries know that this country is a "don't know how to make decision country". Being STOMPed by fools in Singapore only make us embarrassed. This Singaporean-like ways proves that they are a show-off to other people in other countries. This website is a very useless website that people keep posting shameless photos of other people than themselves. Chili Crab and Chicken Rice does not belong to Singapore. They are being made by Hainanese and the chili crab nowadays are not fresh and it is found commonly in Malaysia and Indonesia. Due to the murky and disgusting layers of oil in sea water, the salt water fishes and organisms living in it all died. Singing the National Anthem and taking the pledge is like singing Requiem and Lacrimosa by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or singing the national anthem and taking the pledge is like Somnus Nemoris by Yoko Shinomura. The conclusion that I have arrive that this things that Singaporeans like to do thinks and feels that they have a sense of belonging in Singapore. The Latin word 'Lacrimosa' means weeping and 'Somnus Nemoris' means dream of the wood. In the end this is a Singaporean style. Doing Pen Pineapple Apple Pen[PPAP in short] makes us Singaporeans because it is dumb for Singaporeans to have fun and follow blindly to the song and it influences them to get use to it.
Words:1416
From one of the classmates in 3N2

One way that Singapore can encourage Singaporeans to serve National Service(NS) is by distributing flyers to the residents of Singapore[L1]. By giving out the flyers to attract the young Singaporean men to participate in an open house for giving them a head-start [How exactly is reading a flyer giving them a headstart?] on being in NS and it also states all the advantages of serving NS in Singapore in the flyers. Distributing flyers also helps Singaporeans to serve NS because it states the benefits of serving NS for men above 18 years old and they also learn how to follow the rules set by their Fleet Admirals, General Army and Air Force (the highest rank of the army) because it is is compulsory for men above 18 years old to serve National Service due to the military conscription for the country's defense when there is an external outbreak of an invasion around the country's border. By distributing the flyers to all the residents in Singapore, it also helps to promote social cohesion and to develop their values(and to uphold their values too), physical fitness, endurance level of the muscle, their responsibility of the country and their weakness in a certain field [how can you do all this by distributing flyers?]. It also helps them to be responsible for their own actions, rules and regulations of a country and the responsibility of their own well-being and their others.
- Shu Qi 3N2 (5)

Cutting the 1416 words short to a short paragraph on being a Singaporean.

1 way of being a Singaporean is by having a Singapore red passport whenever we travel out of our own country. Having a red passport that is named "Republic of Singapore" with a Majulah Singapura(Malay) logo at the front page of the passport make us feel like a Singaporean too. Red passport makes us a Singaporean because other countries can recognize us when we travel and it also helps us to identify ourselves easier to the locals of other countries. On the other side, having red passport does not mean that you are fully a Singaporean. [no need to evaluate 2 sides of the situation when answering an SRQ] It only means that you can travel to other countries using that migratory book in our own hands and if a Singaporean( it applies to the rest of the Singaporeans too) lost his or her passport, he or she might be in prison or fined by the police or the locals in the country.

Edited: Shu Qi 3N2
