Mr. Miran talked about the key elements of effective pedagogy which are:
* combination (approaches)
* content (pedagogy for what?!)
* context (matters)
* change (embedding innovative)

the best way to remember a cotation is to tell a story.
innovative pedagogy consist of updated activities, techniques, methods and materials to enable the learners to get the required knowledge and skills.

he mentioned different teaching methods such as: Lecturing, Seminar, workshop, written assignment, Lab work, graduation project, internship, ... etc
Advantages, disadvantages and positive impact points of some the common teaching methods were discussed

then we practiced another teaching method which was (Fish Bowl learning), I was one of the member of the inner circle discussing the subject, and each time one person of the outer circle was becoming a member of the inner circle, it was a new experience for me.

then Mr. Miran talked about creative teaching, creative learning, and teaching for creativity, and added more learning methods such as Authentic learning, Game based Learning, Flipping learning, and Problem Based learning

It was an interesting information to know how the teaching methods are broad and different and by getting the skill of different teaching skills a teacher can cope with a variety of different learners

at the end he gave us and assignment that each group should make presentation about specific teaching method other than those discussed, and should select from a list of methods found in the link he gave us.

Teaching methods were an important part of the Innovative Pedagogy Module. Several teaching
methods have been taught by Mr. Miran during the module. We, as participants of the pedagogy
course/the morning group, were divided over 8 groups to present different teaching methods
other than those given by him.
Each group presented their own method for 15 minutes by powerpoint or prezi.
The methods were: Construction of summarizing a text, which is given by our group; Panel discussion; Field
exercise; Class discussion; Problem solving and case study; Field trips; Blended Learning; and
Jigsaw method.
Some of the methods were familiar, few of them were new to hear. Each method has benefits that could be applied in few or more academic situations.
I think, construction of summarizing a text is very beneficial for all academic writings. Panel Discussion is very useful to find solutions for a particular problem, but not as such for teaching students!! Field exercises enable students to solve their own problems by themselves and practically. Class discussion is good for teamwork and improves communication. Problem solving and case study enhances
group brainstorming, Academic field trips enhance learning by seeing what has been given theoretically, Blended learning which mixes online and classroom teaching, is important to give individual freedom and independence of learning, Jigsaw which is a puzzle like method, is an
interesting method which depends of cooperation and teamwork of the students.
Regarding the presentation skills of the groups, overall they were good, but some of them took longer than 15 minutes. Some of the slides were full of lines with small fonts as it was difficult to read. Some of the presenters voices were very low and couldn't be heard well. Some of them did not keep eye contact with the audience.
In the end, we heard several different teaching methods, we practiced teaching methods like teachers, we learned from ourselves and others mistakes, and will definitely benefit from all these valuable knowledge.

in this lecture Mr. Miran talked about assessment of the teaching methods and/or tools:
assessment starts with identifying the learning goals to judging the achievement of those goals.
* why we assess?
- to know if we reach our goal?!
- whether the students learned?!
- to assess our teaching methods
- to assess ourselves
- to identify different levels of students
- to give certificate to those deserving it

* what to assess?
- the knowledge (info)
- the skill (doing)
- the attitude (being in)

* how to assess each of the above?
- a simple way is to (knows, knows how, shows how, does)

how we know that our assessment works? is by:
-Reliability
-validity
-educational impact (relation between assessment and learning)

there are different types of assessment:
-summative (end of course)
-formative (throughout the course)
-self/peer (anytime)

Pedagogy changed the assessment process as follows:
-from control to support
-was at the end ... now with in the learning process
-exam was the only way ... now there are different ways
-before only the teacher was assessing ... now the teacher, peers, and even other students are assessing
-the classroom was the only venue for assessment ... but now it is in the real-life

* Diagnostic assessment is before starting the module
* Formative assessment is to develop instruction
* Confirmative is an extensive for of summative
* Norm-referenced assessment compare level of student to the average
* criterion / referenced
* Ipsative assessment: assess the student to his/her previous assessment (progressive)
* Interm/Bench mark (periodically)

We use different assessment method because some learning outcome is difficult to assess by one method
