Especially with places like Zaire and people like Thomas Sankara in Burkina Faso who were doing really cool things. Also more dictator-style leaders like Bokassa and his CAE. I am also curious to learn about earlier periods. Specifically the Ghana Empire and Boko Kingdom, as well as some of the other groups of people who were developing really interesting cultures and socio-economic systems around that time. The Barbary Pirates are also cool and I'd be interested to look at some of the naval history in different parts of the continent to see how that development compares.
