I used to think that human rights were just those outlined in the Constitution. I had always hoped that there would be more but didn't know about the Declaration of Human Rights. Now that I have been exposed to this information, I have a newfound respect for the countries that have written out such a powerful document. I just hope that we can keep working in the right direction that soon these will be seen all over the world and acted on.
I also used to think that the government protected these rights and to some extent, the government does, or at least it is supposed to. I feel like a lot of people are still falling through the cracks around the world.
I used to think that education meant the right to be informed and I still feel this way. Every human being has the right to an education and a way to be informed of what is going on around them. They also deserve a normal school education to be able to stay informed. Now I think that there is so much more to education.
