The lottery and the hunger games

The purpose of the Lottery is to insure a good harvest and they draw papers out of a box to see who will be sacrificed. In the hunger games the purpose of the ritual is to make entertainment for the capital they draw names out of a fish bowl to see which boy and which girl will be competing in the hunger games for their section.

In the Lottery they do the lottery to ensure a good and abundant harvest the text says" Next thing you know, they`ll be wanting to go back to living in caves, nobody works anymore, live that way for a while. There used to be a saying about `Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon.` First thing you know, we'd all be eating stewed chickweed and acorns." This proves that they think they will have a good harvest for the year because they do the lottery in June.

The difference between the two is that the Lottery does this to have a good harvest, but The Hunger Games does it to entertain the capital. The Lottery does it so they can help themselves grow and stay fruitful but The Hunger Games does it so they can be entertained and for fun.

The hunger games is for the entertainment of the capital basically the officials. In the video you see everyone from that section wearing basic clothes and uniforms and none of the people seem to be happy about the hunger games except for the lady pulling names. Also all of the people seem worried and scared about the games as they do not talk at all.
