This is my mini library. It's mainly a collection of art history and Sherlock Holmes books, but I have some novels and special items as well. In the middle cubby I have what I like to call my "rare items" collection, which consists of two war magazines from 1915 and an original booklet interview with Henri Matisse from 1958. I love my collection because I'm obsessed with art history and love reading in general.

This is my playbill/program collection. In this collection I have a wide range of programs including dance performances, community theatre, and national theatre companies. The main criteria is that I have seen the show and was able to get a program for it. Most of my collection comes from musicals that I have seen-- my most cherished are my playbills. The earliest program I have is from a dance performance I went to in 2012, and the most recent addition is the program for Audra McDonald's performance from September at Hancher.

This is a collection of assorted pins (my skull collection is included just to add photo interest...). It isn’t too big of a collection yet, and I collected all of them within about the past year. Collection criteria is a) being a pin, and b) displays an image that I like. What I am attracted to about the collection are the sharply distinctive colors and shiny surfaces.

This is the dice collection owned by Lindsay Lerner. Each dice is a part of a full matching set most of which consist of a D4, D6, D8 D10, D%, D12, and D20, though there are some sets that include multiple D20s or are game specific sets, such as her Vampire: The Masquerade set, which consists of all D10s. These are all dice created for tabletop RPGs, and are mostly used for Dungeons and Dragons. Some sets were purchased specifically for a certain character, while others were purchased just because they were pretty and she wanted them in her collection. It is my goal to one day have a dice collection this large and beautiful.

This is my plant collection that I started three years ago with the little zebra plant in the white pot in the middle. Most of my plants have names and a lot of them are named after Twilight characters. I currently have twenty-two plants, and that is including the Marimo moss ball inside my fish tank. When I first started collecting them, it was only succulents because they are hardier and typically easier to take care of but now I am more interested in leafy plants, so that's what I usually buy. I have always been known to collect things, like books, movies, stickers, rocks, and even bottle caps. I think when it comes to collecting plants, it feels more justified and actually makes sense, which is why I do it.

These are a few of the quilts my grandma has made. She really got into quilting when she retired, and has made hundreds of quilts to gift to friends and family, to be displayed in quilt shows and shops, and to be donated to different causes such as Quilts of Valor for veterans and children's hospitals. The quilts have a lot of value to me because my grandma pieced, sewed, and quilted them all, and I grew up watching her make them. She also taught me to sew and quilt, so I aspire to have my own collection someday.

These are just a small portion of my postcard collection. I started this collection when I was in elementary school and it slowly built up. I have postcards from traveling to different countries and also from exhibits. I like postcards because they capture the places and things you see at the locations almost exactly like they are. Although I can also take photos, there are some places where photography is prohibited by general visitors. The photos on postcards are taken by professionals who are given permission to take photographs of these prohibited objects and exhibits. That way, I can go back and see the things I saw at a museum or exhibit that I could not take photos of.

This is a scotch-whiskey collection, collected by Valentino Zagatti. Zagatti was a blind man who, once he stopped smoking, became a connoisseur of scotch whiskey, and collected unopened bottles. His oldest bottle dates back to 1843. His collection was greatly sought after, and he sold it on the conditions that the collection doesn't get split up for ten years, no bottle is opened, and it must be on display for the world to see. The collection is currently in the Netherlands, bought by Scotch Whisky International. This is my favorite collection because scotch whisky has become so engrained into the culture of Scotland that it has shaped parts of Scottish history and has its roots deep in Scottish tradition. As a history major, the impact that whisky has had on Scotland is of great interest, and I plan to write a small research paper if I achieve the opportunity to study abroad there next semester by going to different distilleries and doing distillery tours.

I originally started to collect these things in High school, and currently have a military jacket completely decked out in nerdy and edgy patches.

This is a Sauropod at the Field Museum in Chicago in their hall of dinosaurs. This collection was collected by many archaeologists from around the world and took many years to come to life and is still evolving to this day with new specimens being added when available. This particular collection is actually several put together because there are many dinosaurs from different time periods so they are divided up to give patrons a snapshot of what the environment was like back then. The thing about this particular collect that most interests me is the diversity is shows in the paleontological world of how you don't just study dinosaurs, you study Jurassic Aquatic Predators or Triassic Land Dwelling Herbivores and many other subsections that are often grouped into one large group that has many more interesting subsections. I also really enjoy this collection because ever since I've been a kid I've enjoyed dinosaurs and the wonder and awe they inspire from their enormous size.

Thus, I bought tons of different playing card for "cardistry." Those in my collection can be either beautiful, limited edition or cheap for practice. From the image, you can see part of my collection in the USA, and I have much more expensive ones back in China. They are really important for me, since they can help me to claim down and thinking when I want some time for myself.

This is a very small portion of my overall collection, it's only the ones that I brought to college is missing the ones that adorn my desk but these dinosaurs (and other prehistoric creatures) are part of what fueled my passion for paleontology as a child and they are a fun nostalgic reminder that I enjoy expanding now that I have a little money (not enough). My criteria is only that the animal must be extinct, my collection currently includes fish, crocodylians, marine reptiles, dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and mammals, and that they should be as scientifically accurate as possible. I mostly pick them up at national parks and at museums, unfortunately until I get a real job the really nice ones are still out of my price range but I'm slowly expanding nevertheless. Not pictured is the Thylacine (extinct Tasmanian tiger) that I picked up at the paleontology conference I was at this last week. I include a couple of other paleontology trinkets in this collection, such as the lego paleontologist minifigure pictured here. Overall the collection is a testament to the childhood sense of wonder that I felt about prehistoric animals and they double as a great conversation starter!

Over the years, I have started a few different collections on my own, but the one I am showing today is my ceramics collection. This collection is kind of a jumble of all different types of ceramics, but the criteria for this collection is that it has to be handmade; either thrown on the pottery wheel, or hand-built with slabs, coils, or another hand-building technique. It contains both functional and non-functional pieces. I collected these pieces, but they aren't all made by me. Some of them are, but I also love to collect other people's artwork. This collection intrigues me because I have been making ceramics for over 11 years now, and I love the fact that clay can be made into whatever the artist wants it to be made into. A few of these pieces were done by friends, a couple by my mentor, and I even have a cup that I collaborated on with another artist! Some of these ceramic pieces have been given to me as gifts, but the majority of them I either made or purchased. This photo does not represent my entire ceramics collection, this is actually just a small portion of it! A lot of my collection is back at home so I don't have access to photograph those pieces right now. I love this collection because each of these pieces holds a special memory for me, and I get to be reminded of that every time I use one of them! (P.S. It was really hard to get an angle where you could see all the details of them, so I just tried to pick the best one!)

I've always been really fascinated by color schemes, and this is one of my favorite color-themed collections. I call it my pink-and-green wall for lack of a better idea. The only real requirement for it is that all of the pieces must be largely pink, green, or both, and I've collected a number of them from around the world. My two favorites are the extremely round cat near the top/middle and the small (I don't even know if you can see it) landscape just down and to the left of the cat. The cat is a print from a local Iowa City artist, and the landscape is from Hallstatt, a tiny Austrian town where the first evidence of Continental Celts were discovered. The thing that's most fun to me about collecting things based on color is that the subject matter can vary so widely within a single collection, as evidenced by those very prints.

Those three motorcycles are 2016 Triumph Tiger 800, 2010 Yamaha r1 Rossi Edition, and 2016 Harley Iron 883. Also, I have a BMW R1200gs in Beijing. I'm really like the motorcycle because it can provide me excite, speed, and interest, and it also very easy to parking, so that I use motorcycle as my daily transportation. I bought many motors because they have different functions and use. I go to track with sportbike, and do a road trip with adventure bike, and daily commuting with a cruiser bike. Those motorcycles make my life convenient and exciting.

It makes getting change fun, because if a quarter is one that I do not have them it no longer is change, but something for me to keep. It’s also interesting to see what all the different images they choose to represent the states. I will only have one of each and only change them out if the original one is significantly worse condition. They decided what each one was years in advance, and every year their is a possibility for a new quarter back.

This paint doesn't belong to any one person in particular and is rather owned by all of the students in screen printing courses. I'm intrigued by this collection because of it's sense of sustainability and how they all have a part of each student in them.
